Role Overview

As part of the Market Operations team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of bilateral and OTC power transactions on the GNA Energy platform – from deal registration and scheduling through to settlement and reconciliation. The role involves close coordination with buyers, sellers, and regulatory/grid agencies to ensure smooth, compliant, and timely execution of trades, along with continuous improvement of operational processes and platform functionality.

Key Responsibilities

- Operational Oversight and Trade Execution:

- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of bilateral and OTC power transactions executed on the platform – deal registration, confirmation, scheduling, and closure.

- Facilitate matching and confirmation of buy/sell offers between market participants as per contract terms.

- Support structuring and execution of Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs), REC, and RPO-linked transactions.

- Coordinate power scheduling and open-access approvals as per Grid Code, General Network Access (GNA) regulations, and open-access procedures.

- Monitor continuous operations of the trading platform to ensure accuracy, uptime, and data integrity.

- Client and Departmental Coordination:

- Support onboarding of market participants (DISCOMs, C&I; clients, generators, and traders)



and guide them on platform usage.

- Resolve issues related to cash limits/collateral, enablement/disablement, and curtailment as per company policy and scheduling procedures.

- Generate and share operational reports and portfolio summaries with clients and internal stakeholders.

- Address and resolve client queries and operational concerns within defined timelines.

- Coordinate with Business Development, Legal, and Technology teams to streamline transaction flow.

- Reconciliation and Compliance:

- Prepare and share periodic reconciliation statements with counterparties, RLDC, and SLDC.

- Reconcile transaction charges, transmission losses, congestion charges, margin/collateral positions, and GST as applicable.

- Track and follow up on invoicing, payments, and settlement of dues between counterparties.

- Regulatory Coordination:

- Liaise with CERC, RLDC, NLDC, SLDC, and relevant SERCs for scheduling approvals and operational matters.

- Prepare and submit periodic reports and filings to CERC, NLDC, and CEA as applicable to OTC platform operations.

- Stay updated on evolving open-access, GNA/T-GNA, RPO/REC, and power market regulations impacting platform operations.

- Follow up on congestion-related and transmission-related queries with NLDC/RLDC.

- Audit and Process Improvement:

- Prepare audit and MIS reports; identify process gaps and discrepancies in trade execution and settlement.

- Coordinate with the Technology and Data Analytics (GDACC) teams for defect resolution and platform enhancements.

- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new platform features and functionalities.

- Deviation and Risk Monitoring:

- Track and analyse scheduling deviations, settlement discrepancies, and counterparty risk.

- Recommend and implement preventive measures to minimise deviations and operational risk.

Key Accountabilities

- Efficient, accurate, and timely execution of bilateral/OTC power transactions on the platform.

- Effective coordination with clients, internal teams, and regulatory/grid agencies.

- Accurate reconciliation, invoicing,



and settlement of transactions.

- Timely and compliant regulatory reporting and coordination.

- Robust audit trails and continuous improvement of operational processes.

- Proactive identification and resolution of process and platform defects in collaboration with the Technology team.

Essential Skills And Expertise

- Knowledge:

- OTC/bilateral power trading, open-access and General Network Access (GNA) regulations, Electricity Act, and Grid Code.

- RPO, REC, and VPPA frameworks, and their application in the Indian power market.

- Functions of SLDC, RLDC, and NLDC, and power scheduling procedures.

- Technical Skills:

- Proficient in MS Excel (macros, Visual Basic) and other analytical/reporting tools.

- Comfortable working with trading, scheduling, or data-analytics platforms; strong numerical and problem-solving skills.

- Interpersonal Skills:

- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced market environment.

- Strong client-facing communication, team collaboration, and conflict-resolution skills.

- Strong initiative, ownership, and time management.

- Additional Skills:

- Expertise in accounts reconciliation, BRS preparation, and process documentation.
