The Manager - Intellectual Property Management will play a critical role in protecting and enhancing Satya Pharma s intellectual property (IP) portfolio. This position requires a strategic thinker with expertise in IP management, patent drafting, and prosecution within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. The role will involve close collaboration with R&D;, legal, and executive teams to align IP strategies with Satya s mission to deliver groundbreaking cancer treatments.
Key Responsibilities
Patent Portfolio Management: Oversee the development, filing, and maintenance of Satya Pharma s global patent portfolio
Patent Drafting and Prosecution: Draft, review, and file high-quality patent applications with patent offices (e.g., USPTO, EPO, IPO) in collaboration with external patent attorneys. Manage patent prosecution to secure robust IP protection.
IP Strategy Development: Formulate and execute IP strategies that align with Satya s R&D; pipeline and business objectives, ensuring competitive advantage in the oncology biotech space.
Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) Analysis: Conduct FTO assessments to identify potential IP risks and provide recommendations to mitigate them, enabling unhindered development and commercialization of therapeutics.
Collaboration with R&D;: Work closely with Satya s scientific team to identify patentable inventions. Provide IP education to researchers to foster an IP-conscious culture.
Competitive Intelligence: Monitor competitor IP landscapes, including patents and publications, to inform Satya s R&D; and IP strategies.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure IP processes comply with global regulatory standards and internal policies, maintaining accurate records of IP assets and filings.
Budget Management: Manage IP-related budgets, including costs for patent filings, legal services, and external counsel, ensuring cost-effective IP portfolio growth.
Qualifications and Skills
Education : Advanced degree (Master s or Ph.D.) in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related field. A degree or certification in Intellectual Property Law or Patent Management is highly desirable.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IP management within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or drug discovery sectors.
Proven track record in drafting and prosecuting patents for small-molecule therapeutics.
Experience with IP strategy development and FTO analysis in a rapid-paced R&D; environment.
Technical Skills
Familiarity with global patent systems, including USPTO, EPO, and IPO regulations.
Proficiency in patent search tools (e.g., Espacenet, PatBase, Google Patents) and IP management software.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Strategic thinking with the ability to align IP strategies with business and scientific goals.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
Registered Patent Agent or Attorney status with USPTO or equivalent.
