As a Mainframe Developer – Production Support, a typical day involves providing L2/L3 support for critical mainframe applications by monitoring production environments, troubleshooting application issues, and ensuring business continuity. The role requires analyzing and resolving application abends, DB2 issues, CICS/IMS failures, and batch processing incidents while developing and enhancing mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to coordinate incident resolution, participate in release activities, and ensure smooth production deployments.

This position demands solid technical expertise, analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a shift-based support environment. Roles & Responsibilities

Provide L2/L3 production support for mainframe applications by monitoring and resolving production incidents within defined SLAs.

Analyze and resolve application abends, DB2 issues, CICS/IMS failures, and other production-related problems.

Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.

Perform batch job monitoring, restart/recovery activities, and ensure successful batch processing.





Conduct performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications and batch jobs.

Coordinate with upstream and downstream teams during production incidents to ensure timely resolution.

Participate in release management activities, code reviews, deployments, and post-deployment validations.

Prepare incident reports, root cause analysis (RCA), and maintain production support documentation.

Ensure adherence to organizational standards, processes, and production support best practices.

Work in rotational shifts to provide continuous production support coverage.

Must Have Skills

Strong experience in Mainframe Development and Production Support.

Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS.

Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.

Experience in batch job monitoring, restart/recovery, and performance tuning.

Strong knowledge of application abend analysis and production issue resolution.

Experience in troubleshooting DB2 issues and CICS/IMS failures.

Exposure to release management, code reviews, and production deployments.

Willingness to work in rotational shifts.
