Machine Vision Systems Engineer

Optomech Engineers Pvt. Ltd., established in 1981 and based in Hyderabad, designs and manufactures precision metrology equipment and machine vision inspection systems. Our solutions serve pharmaceutical, food, beverage, cosmetics, chemical, agrochemical, plastics and packaging applications, with a focus on reliable engineering, practical customer support and continuous improvement.

Role Purpose The Machine Vision Systems Engineer supports the complete deployment lifecycle of Optomech inspection systems - from factory testing and pre-dispatch readiness to installation, commissioning, training, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. This is a hands-on, customer-facing field role that combines machine vision, industrial automation, computers, software and disciplined technical documentation.

Systems You Will Work On

Bottle, cap and label inspection systems, including BIS, BIS XL, CIS, CIS XL, LIS and LIS 2S.

Induction Seal Integrity Verification Systems (ISIVS), CANIS and other custom vision inspection machines.

¢ Industrial cameras, optics and lighting; PLCs, HMIs, sensors, encoders, drives and industrial PCs.

¢ Machine vision software, inspection recipes, databases, industrial networking and remote-support tools.

Key Responsibilities

Factory Readiness & Testing

¢ Participate in machine assembly verification, wiring checks, I/O checks and safe functional testing.

¢ Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), record observations and confirm pre-dispatch readiness.

¢ Verify inspection logic, reject operation, alarms, recipes and reporting functions against approved requirements.

Installation & Commissioning

¢ Install and commission machine vision inspection systems at customer sites.

¢ Set up and calibrate cameras; adjust lenses, lighting, triggers and image-acquisition parameters.

¢ Configure sensors, encoders, PLC parameters, HMIs, drives, VFDs and interfaces with customer equipment.

¢ Install and configure Windows software, device drivers, databases, IP addresses and industrial networks.

¢ Create product recipes,



establish suitable inspection parameters and optimize performance using approved samples and acceptance criteria.

Customer Support & Service

¢ Train customer operators, maintenance personnel and quality teams on safe operation, recipe handling, basic troubleshooting and routine checks.

¢ Diagnose hardware, software, networking and automation issues through remote support and onsite visits.

¢ Carry out preventive maintenance, calibration checks and performance-improvement activities on installed systems.

¢ Handle customer interactions professionally, communicate status clearly and take ownership until the issue is properly closed or escalated.

Coordination & Documentation

¢ Coordinate with Mechanical Design, Electrical, Software, Production and Quality teams to resolve deployment issues.

¢ Prepare clear FAT records, commissioning reports, service reports, training records and issue documentation.

¢ Share field feedback that can improve machine reliability, serviceability, software and standard operating procedures.

Technical Skills

¢ Machine vision fundamentals: industrial cameras, lenses, lighting, triggering, image quality and inspection concepts.

¢ PLC programming or diagnostics (Beckhoff exposure preferred), HMIs, sensors, encoders, servo motors, drives and VFDs.

¢ Industrial cameras and smart-camera platforms; exposure to Basler, Hikvision, FLIR, Cognex, Keyence or similar products is an advantage.

¢ Windows installation and troubleshooting, driver installation, IP configuration, TCP/IP networking and remote support.

¢ Basic SQL/database knowledge and the ability to install or verify application dependencies.

¢ Ability to read electrical circuit diagrams and troubleshoot control panels safely and systematically.

¢ Basic LabVIEW, Python, OpenCV or machine vision software exposure is preferred, but not mandatory.

Qualifications & Experience

¢ B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation,



Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics or Mechanical Engineering with an automation focus.

¢ 0-2 years of experience in installation, commissioning or service of machine vision systems, industrial automation equipment, packaging machinery or special purpose machines (SPMs). Strong fresh graduates with relevant practical exposure may also apply.

¢ Hands-on project work, internships or service experience involving cameras, PLCs, industrial PCs, sensors or automation equipment will be valued.

¢ Willingness to travel extensively across India (approximately 40-60% travel) for installation, commissioning and customer support, including stays outside Hyderabad when required.

Training & Career Development The selected candidate will undergo structured onboarding and technical training covering machine vision, industrial cameras, lighting, PLCs, software configuration, networking, troubleshooting, documentation and commissioning before independently handling customer projects.

Career progression: growth may include Senior Machine Vision Engineer, Lead Commissioning Engineer, Project Engineer or Application Specialist roles, based on capability, performance and business requirements.
