Roles & Responsibilities
1.
Company Test Practice / Test Framework
Actively use and advocate use of established company processes
Develop test plans from analysis of business requirements, test estimates, and development plans
Design tests from analysis of requirements and solution design so that the tests themselves specify and prove the intended behaviour of the developed solution against the project/business mandate. This includes defining test description, scenario, and expected result and are used to record/report actual results
Validate and verify applications by designing automated tests that act as a living specification of expected behaviour.
Collaborate closely with development and product teams to ensure high-quality software delivery across various platforms.
Look for opportunities for continuous improvement on the established test framework
Time management of test activities during the delivery cycle to ensure delivery within timeframes assigned
Assist in developing standard documents, systems and procedures when required
Information regarding upcoming deliverables gathered, documented and communicated as required
Provide technical support to clients for installed systems ? system integration and user acceptance phases
Maintain and grow deep expertise by keeping pace with advances in the industry, particularly AI-assisted engineering and testing practices, and undertaking approved training where appropriate.

Test Execution
Execute the scope of tests agreed in the test plan on the ICS release version utilizing the automated UI and API suites to reduce the manual effort and increase testing coverage
Execute automated and manual test cases to validate software functionality and performance.
Identify and report defects, ensuring timely resolution with development teams.
Clarification of functional issues and product/solution requirements and ensure issues/risks escalated to appropriate parties
Perform customer specific customizations, test and document deltas
Product and EOL redesign testing and compliance confirmation




Actively involved in ICS Support and testing and recommendation
3.
Quality Assurance
Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, adopting AI-assisted techniques to raise overall quality and speed of feedback.
Close coordination with other members of the Test Practice, Market Engineering, Product Development, or PMO teams to ensure delivery of projects within time and quality standards
Continually seek ways to improve and enhance the quality assurance process and the process of application development and maintenance.
Identify peripheral impacts
Ensure customer-specific application solutions are in line with the customer and company requirements
Escalate issues promptly
Assist with technical input to project management and work with Project Manager/s and QA/Test Team Leader to monitor project process
Ensure solutions delivered to testing and support achieve the agreed quality standard
Maintain an audit trail of testing scope agreed upon and completed, noting any deviations to the original scope
Support acceptance/pilot testing where required
Maintaining and improving area of specialist knowledge, undertaking training where appropriate
4.
Test Automation
Automate testing across the product, using AI assistants to accelerate automation for new functionality and modifications while keeping the engineer in control of design and correctness
Validating any failed automation scripts and identifying the reason for failure, defect, data, environment, or script, providing an RCA where required
Develop robust, pragmatic automation that favours simple, maintainable design and meets our engineering standards with minimum defects
Maintain and support test automation frameworks and scripts to ensure minimal disruption to committed delivery timeframes and ongoing utilization of the automation frameworks.




Ensure automation coverage is comprehensive, gives fast and trustworthy feedback, and integrates seamlessly into the CI/CD pipeline.

Documentation
Produce clear and concise test plans, test cases, status and reporting documentation.
Maintain up-to-date records of testing activities, results, and defect resolutions.
Verify delivered software documentation ? user guides, app notes, specifications, etc.
Document resolutions of issues
Ensure standard issue tracking systems used
Ensure versions can be tracked and reverted as required
6.
Release Support
Support release activities by validating test coverage and executing automated tests in various environments (QA, UAT, and Production).
Participate in release planning and post-release reviews to ensure quality standards are met.
Running CI automation suites and validating the results to support the release
Co-ordination and communication around releases, including aggregation of software packages, verification and release.

Job Description
This position requires the following technical skills:
Essential:
Technical Skills:
o 6+ years of experience in software testing and automation.
o Able to read, write, and critically review test and application code in more than one language, treating languages as interchangeable tools; sound engineering judgement matters more than mastery of any specific syntax (working knowledge of languages such as Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript is practical).
o Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Playwright, Mocha), and with using AI coding assistants to accelerate and strengthen test development.
o A solid grasp of how distributed, cloud-hosted systems behave, including APIs, performance, resilience, and failure modes, and how to test them.
o Familiarity with test-driven development and CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Github Actions).
o Strong analytical, first-principles problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the agency to own problems end-to-end.

Desirable:
Experience with projects within the retail petroleum automation sector /payments systems
