Role Summary
As IP Peering and Traffic Engineering Specialist, you will develop, manage, and optimize the organization's global IP peering and interconnection strategy. You will also act as the highest technical escalation point for routing anomalies.
Key Focus Areas
Traffic Optimization: Drive advanced traffic steering techniques and automate edge routing policies using BGP to maximize performance, reduce transit costs, and increase network resilience.
Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with Internet Exchanges (IXPs), carriers, cloud providers, and content providers. Duties and Responsibilities:
Peering Strategy & Interconnection: Lead the strategy for global transit, Public/Private Network Interconnects (PNIs), and Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). Negotiate settlement-free peering agreements and manage transit provider relationships.
Traffic Engineering (TE): Design, implement, and optimize advanced Traffic Engineering policies utilizing BGP, MPLS-TE, Segment Routing (SR-MPLS/SRv6), and RSVP-TE to ensure optimal path selection and latency minimization.
Capacity Planning & Analytics: Analyze global traffic patterns, utilization trends, and NetFlow/telemetry data to predict capacity bottlenecks and proactively scale network edge infrastructure.
Cost Optimization: Monitor and analyze network spend (transit costs vs. peering benefits) to drive down the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) while improving network performance.
Routing Security & Governance: Implement and enforce robust network security standards at the edge, including RPKI, BGPSEC, MANRS compliance, and DDoS mitigation strategies.
Documentation: Prepare, Maintain and update all Internet Services related Engineering documentation [BGP Communities, Internet services policies, Internet Route-Reflector, etc.]
Collaboration: Work with various verticals [Pricing, Product, Commercials, Pre-Sales, Operations, etc.] for supporting Internet related services in IP-Network.
Automation & Tooling: Collaborate with NetDevOps teams to automate routing policy deployments, peering provisioning,
and real-time traffic shifting metrics using Python, Ansible, or Go Technical/Functional Skills:
Extensive experience in a service provider network environment, specifically in planning, designing, and implementing Data, Voice, Video, and cloud computing services.
Advanced skills on Juniper, Cisco, and Extreme carrier platforms, CPEs, firewalls, and network appliances from leading vendors.
Extensive knowledge and experience in implementing and troubleshooting RFC2547 and IPsec VPNs, VPLS - Kompella/Martini/EoMPLS Layer-2 VPNs, IS-IS, MPLS, LDP, RSVP, IPv4, IPv6, BGP/OSPF/IP Routing, Option-A/B/C NNI, network security, in-service router and OS upgrades, traffic engineering, and optimization.
Working experience with provisioning templates, scripting, detailed designs, MOPs, planned works, and technical project management.
Working experience with OSS/BSS system integration, Fault/Config/Performance/SLA management, usage measurements, and scripting on Unix platforms such as Shell and Perl.
Good knowledge of relevant standards, routing and switching equipment, tools, industry trends, and enterprise managed VPN, WAN optimization, Security, Cloud Computing, and managed voice and video services. The candidate should have positive research skills, think outside the box, and envision future services across various network platforms.
Competency & Behavioral Skills: Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
Good attention to detail; 100% accuracy is required.
Effective team player, with the ability to initiate and establish good relationships with internal partners, including Operations, Product/Marketing, Facilities, Solutions Engineering / Pre-Sales, and other Engineering team members.
Ability to demonstrate proactivity in all aspects of the role.
Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize daily activities.
Ability to work under pressure, with flexibility to provide support during crisis situations and important events, including at odd hours when required.
Ability to adapt to multinational organizations with diverse cultures and multitask effectively.
