Position Overview

This role owns the design, development, and production support of scalable AWS-native data platforms serving enterprise analytics, reporting, and operational workloads. The engineer will independently drive complex data initiatives end-to-end — from architecture through deployment — while setting engineering standards and mentoring the data engineering team. The position sits at the intersection of deep technical execution and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration, translating business requirements into reliable, cost-optimized data solutions.

Role & Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue, MWAA (Apache Airflow), Lambda, Redshift, DMS, S3, Kinesis, DynamoDB, and RDS.
- Develop data ingestion, transformation,



and orchestration frameworks in Python, PySpark, and SQL supporting both batch and near real-time processing.
- Design and implement dimensional data models, data marts, and enterprise data warehouse solutions with a focus on performance, partitioning, and cost optimization.
- Build and enforce data quality, validation, reconciliation, monitoring, and alerting frameworks to ensure end-to-end data integrity.
- Lead solution design and architecture discussions — providing recommendations on data models, integration patterns, and technology choices.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation for data engineering workloads, including Git-based version control and IaC practices using Terraform.
- Perform root cause analysis on production incidents, drive resolution, and implement preventive measures across the data platform.
- Mentor engineers, conduct code and technical reviews, and define engineering best practices covering testing, documentation, and deployment standards.

Must Have Criteria

- 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering with significant hands-on experience building AWS-based data platforms.
- Deep expertise with AWS data services: Redshift, Glue, S3,



Lambda, DMS, MWAA (Apache Airflow), Kinesis, DynamoDB, and RDS.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL for ETL/ELT development at enterprise scale.
- Strong experience with data warehousing principles: dimensional modelling, normalization/denormalization, partitioning, and query performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD processes, Git-based version control, and automated deployment practices for data workloads.
- Experience working with structured, semi-structured, and JSON-based datasets in production environments.
- Proven ability to support production data platforms — including incident management, debugging, and performance tuning.

Nice to Have

- AWS Certification (Solutions Architect or equivalent).
- Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming data solutions.
- Exposure to data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Experience in eCommerce, Retail, or Digital Commerce data domains — customer, product, order, inventory, or marketing datasets.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
