Key Responsibilities

- Perform laboratory tests accurately as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).

- Collect, receive, label, and process patient specimens (blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other body fluids).

- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and analyzers.

- Verify specimen quality and ensure proper handling and storage.

- Perform tests in areas such as:

- Hematology

- Clinical Biochemistry

- Microbiology

- Serology

- Immunology

- Clinical Pathology

- Blood Banking (if assigned)

- Record, verify, and report test results accurately and within the turnaround time (TAT).

- Immediately report critical values to the concerned clinician as per hospital policy.

- Maintain laboratory records, registers, and electronic documentation.

- Participate in internal quality control (IQC) and external quality assurance (EQAS) programs.

- Ensure compliance with NABH, NABL, and infection control guidelines.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory work area.





- Handle biomedical waste according to Biomedical Waste Management Rules.

- Monitor inventory of laboratory reagents, consumables, and supplies.

- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate maintenance with the biomedical engineering team.

- Follow biosafety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Assist in training recent laboratory staff, interns, and students when required.

- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal standards.

- Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation activities.

- Provide support during emergency and critical care laboratory services.

Qualifications

- DMLT (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology) or

- B.Sc.
