EDM & Wire Cut Operator Job brief: We are looking for an experienced EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) Operator / In Charge to join our manufacturing industry team. As an EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) Operator / In Charge in the aerospace industry, your primary responsibility will be to operate and maintain EDM machines to produce precision parts and components for aerospace applications. You will work with a variety of materials and use EDM techniques to shape, cut, and form metal components according to engineering specifications. Your role will require attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of engineers and technicians. Responsibilities: • Set up and operate electrical discharge machines to produce precision components. This includes loading and unloading workpieces, selecting appropriate electrodes, adjusting machine settings, and monitoring the machining process. • Operate EDM machines: Set up and operate electrical discharge machines to produce precision components. Ensure programs are optimized for maximum efficiency and accuracy. • Material Preparation: Prepare workpieces for machining by cleaning, inspecting, and securing them onto the EDM machine. This may involve using clamps, fixtures, or other holding devices. • Tooling and electrode maintenance:
Maintain and prepare electrodes. • Quality control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Ensure components meet specified tolerances and quality standards. • Documentation and reporting: Record production data, including setup parameters, machining times, and inspection results. Report any issues or deviations from specifications to supervisors or engineers. • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement measures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity. Collaborate with engineering teams to develop new machining techniques or optimize existing ones. • Collaboration and teamwork: Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other operators to troubleshoot issues, share knowledge, and ensure smooth workflow within the manufacturing setting. • Safety and compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies while operating machinery. Follow aerospace industry standards and regulatory requirements related to machining processes.
