Purpose/Objective

The EHS Shift Engineer is responsible for monitoring and maintaining environmental, health, and safety standards during designated shifts at solar manufacturing facilities.
They ensure compliance with EHS regulations, conduct inspections, and respond to incidents promptly.
Their role involves training and advising staff on safety protocols and emergency procedures to safeguard personnel and environmental integrity.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Facility Inspections and Risk Identification: - Conduct thorough inspections to identify safety, health, and environmental risks and develop and implement inspection policies, procedures, and schedules.
Health and Safety Procedures: - Develop and enforce health and safety procedures across all areas of the company and review and update emergency procedures and workplace safety protocols.
Training and Compliance: - Prepare and deliver training on emergency procedures, workplace safety, and chemical safety and monitor compliance with training requirements and conduct periodic training sessions.
Monitoring and Enforcement: - Monitor critical activities on-site and correct unsafe practices through a stop-the-line approach and implement and monitor the Permit to Work system effectively.
Inspections and Audits: - Carry out daily inspections and audits of EHS observations, maintaining a comprehensive list of action items and review the effectiveness of general ventilation and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems through regular measurement and monitoring.
Incident Reporting and Investigation:



- Lead near-miss reporting and investigations to prevent major accidents and incidents and develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) based on investigation findings.
Training Program Development: - Develop and deliver training programs on process safety management, toxicology, ergonomics, and other critical EHS subjects and ensure training programs align with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Promotion of EHS Awareness: - Actively lead initiatives to celebrate various EHS awareness days and weeks among employees and contractors and promote a strong safety culture and adherence to EHS guidelines throughout the solar manufacturing facility.
Innovation: - Integrating innovative technologies such as IoT and automation to enhance environmental compliance, improve workplace safety protocols, and streamline processes while minimizing risks and resource consumption.
Digitalization/Data-Driven Decision Making: Driving the adoption of digital tools, such as safety management systems (SMS) and real-time monitoring solutions, to track compliance metrics, identify risks, and make data-driven decisions that improve EHS performance.

Promoting a culture of environmental responsibility, safety awareness, and collaboration by empowering teams with training, accountability, and tools that align with the company’s EHS goals.
People Development: - Leading from the front & being accountable for the professional growth of your teams.
Developing/conducting/promoting training & learning initiatives to enhance skills & empowering them to take ownership of key processes and decisions.
Leadership in Change Management: - Leading the implementation of recent technologies and processes, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption during changes.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification: - Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
Work Experience (Range of years): - 8-12 years in construction or industrial safety management.
