Head Business Development & Operations (Airport Retail)

Position Summary

The Head of Business Development & Operations will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding retail partnerships, optimizing airport retail operations, and ensuring exceptional customer experiences across all retail outlets. The role combines strategic business development with operational leadership to maximize sales, profitability, and brand presence within airport environments.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

* Develop and execute business growth strategies for airport retail operations.

* Identify and secure new retail opportunities, concessions, and brand partnerships.

* Build and maintain relationships with airport authorities, airlines, concessionaires, landlords, and key stakeholders.

* Negotiate commercial agreements, lease terms, and vendor contracts.

* Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, passenger preferences, and revenue opportunities.

* Develop proposals, presentations, and business cases for recent retail concepts and expansion projects.

* Drive sales growth and profitability across all retail channels.

Retail Floor Operations

* Oversee daily operations of airport retail outlets and kiosks.

* Ensure smooth store functioning, compliance with airport regulations, and adherence to operational standards.

* Monitor sales performance, footfall conversion, inventory turnover, and customer satisfaction metrics.

* Implement operational excellence programs to improve efficiency and service quality.

* Coordinate with merchandising, logistics, procurement, and store teams to ensure product availability.

* Manage store opening, closing, refurbishment, and expansion activities.

Team Leadership

* Lead, mentor, and develop retail managers, supervisors, and operational staff.

* Establish KPIs and performance management systems.





* Conduct regular training programs focused on customer service, sales excellence, and operational compliance.

* Foster a high-performance culture across all retail locations.

Financial Management

* Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans.

* Monitor P&L; performance and implement measures to improve profitability.

* Analyze sales reports and operational data to support strategic decisions.

* Control operational costs while maintaining service standards.

Stakeholder Management

* Liaise with airport management, regulatory authorities, brand partners, and service providers.

* Ensure compliance with aviation security requirements and airport operating procedures.

* Manage escalations and resolve operational issues effectively.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

* Ensure adherence to airport security protocols, health & safety regulations, and retail operating standards.

* Conduct audits and implement corrective actions where necessary.

* Maintain high standards of visual merchandising, cleanliness, and customer experience.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or related field.

* MBA preferred.

* 815 years of experience in retail operations, airport retail, travel retail, FMCG retail, or commercial business development.
