Industrial / Product Design Intern — Full-Stack Designer
GiftdMinds · Bangalore · Onsite · Internship (convertible to full-time) About the role Just as there are full-stack engineers, we believe there are full-stack designers — product designers who are excellent at prototyping (Fusion 360, 3D printing, CNC, woodcraft) and also have the gift of making things look beautiful, physical or digital.
You will be the backbone of our new-products initiative — owning ideas end to end, from concept and prototype through to a product that actually launches, as we start the GiftdMinds product vertical. Alongside that, your 3D design and printing will support the STEM prototypes our engineers build day to day. What we want to build We want to redefine what STEM products really mean — imagine the craft, design and engineering behind Lego, but for education.
We are deliberately not building another DIY laser-cut MDF kit. We want indigenous, Made-in-India tools for young makers: genuinely useful, beautifully made, and accessible to a 10-year-old rather than only to an engineer.
Think our own 3D printer, reimagined so a younger student can actually use it. Or rethinking the electronic breadboard — more intuitive technically, and good-looking enough that it makes a child want to become a maker. We haven't fixed on a direction yet — that's the point. You'll have real freedom to think, propose and build.
What we're looking for You'll be genuinely strong in either Industrial Design or Visual Design — we're happy with either, as long as you can play a supporting role in the other.
Hands-on prototyping — strong 3D modelling (Fusion 360 preferred) and real 3D printing experience. You build with your hands, iterate and refine.
Design sensibility — an eye for form, ergonomics, material and finish,
and for making things look genuinely positive.
A pull towards products for children and education — ideally some exposure to the education, toy or learning-products space.
The urge to ship — you want what you design to reach people's hands, not sit in a portfolio.
Curiosity and ownership — if you've spent countless hours asking why, and feel your work should be more than a pay-cheque, you'll fit in here. Two ways into this role Industrial / Product Design led — you live in Fusion 360, 3D printing, CNC and physical prototyping, and can hold your own on visuals.
Visual / Graphic Design led — you're strong on brand identity, packaging and marketing communication, with a real love for product innovation and rapid prototyping. Good to have Workshop and fabrication skills (laser cutting, CNC, sheet metal, moulding, woodworking); design for manufacture; rendering and sketching; basic electronics awareness; a portfolio of self-initiated projects. What you'll own Product conceptualisation and design — from sketch to CAD to working prototype, with a real voice in what we build.
3D design and prototyping support — the go-to for 3D design across our robots, drones, telescopes and ground-station projects.
Mentoring — like everyone at GiftdMinds, a portion of your time goes into up-skilling some of the brightest 10–15 year-olds with 3D design, printing and maker skills.
