Consultation regarding selection of drug, dose, route, dosage form, schedule and duration

2 To provide Information regarding

2.1 Drug action, drug kinetics

2.2 Drug interactions (drug-drug, food-drug)

2.3 Contraindications and special precautions

2.4 Management of patients on polytherapy (multiple medications)

3 To ensure and monitor drug safety

3.1 Adverse drug reaction (ADR) monitoring

4 Hospital Drug Formulary

4.1 To initiate, co-ordinate and accomplish the task of forming our own drug formulary and to see that it is implemented

5 Hospital Surveys

5.1 Suggestions to improve the quality of patient management (drug prescription, dispensing, administration, outcome) in various units/departments (according to JCI standards)

5.2 Drug utilization studies, drug audits (mainly antimicrobials) in ICUs to know the pattern of antimicrobial prescription vs microbial growth and sensitivity. This will help in control of antimicrobial resistance

5.3 To generate report on different drug usage and its outcome.
