Role & responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end import operations from shipment planning to customs clearance.

- Liaise with Customs authorities, Customs House Agents (CHAs), freight forwarders, shipping lines, transporters, and government departments.

- Travel regularly to JNPT, Mundra, Chennai, and other ports as required to resolve customs and shipment-related issues.

- Handle customs clearance activities and ensure compliance with all applicable import regulations.

- Prepare, review, and manage import documentation, including:

- Commercial Invoice

- Packing List

- Bill of Lading (BL)

- Certificate of Origin

- Bill of Entry

- Insurance Documents

- Duty-related documents

- Other shipping and customs documentation

- Coordinate with suppliers, logistics partners, warehouses, and internal departments for smooth shipment execution.

- Follow up with shipping lines for detention waivers, delivery orders, container release, and shipment-related issues.

- Maintain accurate filing and documentation of all import records.

- Track shipments and proactively resolve customs, shipping,



and logistics delays.

- Lead and supervise a team of 5 Import Executives, ensuring operational efficiency and timely execution.

- Negotiate freight, detention, and logistics-related matters with shipping lines and service providers.

- Prepare reports and MIS using Microsoft Excel.

Preferred candidate profile

- Advanced knowledge of Import Documentation and Shipping Documentation.

- Strong understanding of Indian Customs procedures and import compliance.

- Experience coordinating with Customs authorities and CHAs.

- Strong negotiation and convincing skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Leadership experience with the ability to manage a team.

- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

- Willingness to travel frequently to ports and customs offices.

- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related discipline.
