Job Summary

The Costing Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for industrial automation systems, special purpose machines (SPM), control panels, and engineering projects. The role involves analysing BOMs, technical drawings, material costs, manufacturing processes, labor, and vendor quotations to support sales, design, and project execution teams in achieving competitive and profitable project costing.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed cost estimates for automation projects, machines, control panels, and customized engineering solutions.
- Analyze BOMs, technical specifications, GA drawings, electrical schematics, and customer requirements for costing purposes.
- Coordinate with Design, Sales, Purchase, Production, and Projects teams to collect technical and commercial inputs.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor quotations
- Calculate manufacturing costs including machining, fabrication, assembly, wiring, testing, and commissioning.
- Prepare techno-commercial cost sheets, pricing summaries, and project profitability analyses.
- Support tendering, proposal preparation, and customer quotation activities.




- Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and alternate sourcing.
- Maintain standard costing databases, material cost records, and estimation templates.
- Monitor actual project costs versus estimated costs and analyze variances.
- Assist management in budgeting, pricing strategies, and cost control initiatives.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems and machine components.
- Understanding of BOMs, manufacturing processes, and engineering drawings.
- Good analytical and cost calculation skills.
- Experience in vendor quotation analysis and commercial evaluation.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of fabrication, machining, electrical panel, and assembly costing.
- Robust communication and coordination abilities.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualification

- Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Mechanical.

Experience

- 3-6 years of experience in costing, estimation, proposal engineering, or commercial engineering within automation, SPM, or industrial engineering industries preferred.
