Role & responsibilities: -
Total experience: 3-6 years. Relevant experience should include at least some of the following:
- Business analyst, MIS analyst, reporting analyst, data analyst, or operations analyst role.
- Experience gathering requirements from business users and coordinating with technical teams.
- Experience working with SAP, HIS, ERP, CRM, or other enterprise source systems.
- Experience supporting BI dashboards, MIS reports, custom data extracts, or analytics projects.
- Strong Excel experience for data cleaning, reconciliation, and analysis.
- Basic SQL exposure for data validation or extraction.
- Healthcare, hospital, diagnostics, pharma, insurance, or provider-side analytics experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities: -
Business Requirement Gathering
- Meet hospital users across clinical, operational, finance, billing, patient experience, and administrative teams to understand reporting and data requirements.
- Clarify the objective of each request: the business question, intended user, frequency, format, and expected output.
- Convert user requirements into transparent, structured requirement notes or business requirement documents.
- Identify required filters, dimensions, measures, date logic, drill-downs, and output formats.
- Distinguish between one-time data extracts, recurring MIS reports, operational dashboards, and executive BI dashboards.
- Maintain a tracker of all open, in-progress, delivered, and pending BI/data requests.
Skills & Knowledge:
BI and Analytics Team Coordination
- Share structured requirements with BI developers, data engineers, or analytics resources.
- Explain the business context and expected interpretation of each KPI or data field.
- Review wireframes, draft reports,
and dashboard prototypes before user review.
- Support BI developers in clarifying business rules, filters, hierarchies, and exception logic.
- Coordinate report iterations between users and BI teams.
- Ensure report outputs are aligned with approved business definitions and user expectations..
Co-ordination with SAP and Source-System Teams
- Work with SAP module owners and source-system owners to understand whether required data is available in existing tables, views, reports, or extracts.
- Map business fields requested by users to available system fields and source reports.
- Coordinate with SAP/HANA, HIS, LIS, PACS, CRM, billing, finance, and other system teams as required.
- Track source-system dependencies, access requirements, field definitions, and data extraction timelines.
- Support source-to-report mapping documentation for key reports and dashboards.
- Raise data availability, definition, or system limitation issues to the reporting manager with clear context.
Hospital Workflow and KPI Understanding
- Understand common hospital workflows: OPD, IPD, admission, discharge, billing, pharmacy, diagnostics, OT, ICU, bed management, and payer processes.
- Support requirements related to KPIs such as revenue, patient volumes, ALOS, bed occupancy, OT utilization, diagnostics TAT, payer mix, receivables, and patient experience.
- Clarify definitions such as bill date versus service date, admission date versus bed allotment date, clinical discharge versus billing discharge, and gross revenue versus net revenue.
- Work with users to standardise KPI definitions and avoid conflicting versions of the same metric.
- Build a working glossary of frequently used RFH reporting terms and definitions.
