Position

Job Title: Head Chef

Department: Kitchen Operations

Reports To: Store Manager / Operations Manager

Location: Grey Soul Coffee Roasters

Job Summary The Head Chef is responsible for managing the entire kitchen operation, ensuring high-quality food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, controlling food costs, managing kitchen staff, and delivering an exceptional dining experience. The Head Chef leads the kitchen team, develops menus, maintains consistency, and ensures smooth daily operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesKitchen Operations

- Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen.
- Ensure all food is prepared according to Grey Soul Coffee recipes and quality standards.
- Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Ensure all food orders are prepared and served on time.
- Monitor food quality before every dish leaves the kitchen.

Team Management

- Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff.
- Prepare duty rosters and manage shift schedules.
- Conduct daily briefings with the kitchen team.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching.
- Maintain discipline and teamwork within the kitchen.

Food Quality & Menu Development

- Develop seasonal menus and special dishes.
- Standardize recipes and food presentation.
- Conduct regular food tastings.
- Introduce new recipes while maintaining brand standards.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through consistent food quality.

Inventory & Cost Control

- Monitor daily stock levels.
- Plan and place food orders.
- Control food costs and reduce wastage.
- Conduct weekly and monthly inventory.
- Maintain proper storage using FIFO (First In, First Out).




- Minimize spoilage and ensure stock rotation.

Hygiene & Food Safety

- Ensure compliance with FSSAI guidelines.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Ensure proper food storage temperatures.
- Monitor kitchen equipment cleanliness.
- Ensure staff follow personal hygiene standards.
- Conduct regular cleaning schedules.

Equipment Maintenance

- Ensure all kitchen equipment is functioning properly.
- Report maintenance issues immediately.
- Schedule preventive maintenance.
- Ensure protected use of all kitchen equipment.

Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain production records.
- Maintain inventory reports.
- Record daily wastage.
- Monitor food cost reports.
- Prepare kitchen performance reports.
- Assist management during audits.

Qualifications

- Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field preferred.




- FSSAI Food Safety knowledge

Experience

- 2–4 years of kitchen experience.
- Minimum 2 years as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager.
- Experience in cafés, specialty coffee shops, restaurants, or hospitality is preferred.

Working Conditions

- 9-hour shift.
- 6 working days per week.
- Flexible to work weekends, holidays, and rotational shifts.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
