A Senior Resident provides supervised surgical and perioperative care for patients with heart and thoracic diseases while participating in emergency servicesteachingand research.

Key Responsibilities

- Evaluate and manage preoperative and postoperative cardiac surgery patients.
- Assist in and progressively perform cardiothoracic surgical procedures under consultant supervision.
- Manage patients in the Cardiac ICUwardsoutpatient department (OPD)and emergency department.
- Participate in emergency surgeries and on-call duties.
- Perform procedures such as:
- Chest tube insertion and management
- Central venous catheter placement
- Arterial line insertion
- Temporary pacing wire management
- Wound care and postoperative management

- Interpret investigations including ECGechocardiography reportschest X-raysCT scansand relevant laboratory tests.
- - Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students and participate in academic activities.
- Maintain accurate medical records and comply with hospital protocols.




- Participate in clinical auditsquality improvement initiativesand research activities.

Eligibility

- MBBS with MS/DNB in General Surgery or MCh/DNB/DrNB in Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (depending on the institutions recruitment rules). Eligibility varies by hospital and whether the post is in a superspecialty department.
