Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced IP Rehab Medical Coder with strong expertise in Inpatient Rehab (IP Rehab) coding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate coding of inpatient rehab cases, ensuring compliance with regulatory and payer requirements while maintaining high quality and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and abstract information from IP Rehab medical records

- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to diagnoses and procedures

- Ensure compliance with IRF-PAI guidelines, Medicare regulations, and coding standards

- Understand and apply Case Mix Group (CMG) assignment

- Analyze multidisciplinary documentation (physician, therapy, and nursing notes)

- Send compliant physician queries for incomplete or unclear documentation

- Assist in denial management and coding-related appeals

- Maintain coding accuracy, productivity, and quality benchmarks





- Stay updated with coding changes and payer requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Certified Skilled Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)

- Active certification with maintained CEUs and membership

- Minimum 23 years of recent IP / Rehab coding experience

- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS

- Knowledge of IRF-PAI and CMG assignment

- Understanding of Medicare and payer guidelines

- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology

- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)

- Detail-oriented and quality-driven

- Self-motivated and team-oriented

Technical Skills:

- Experience with EMR and Practice Management systems

- Familiarity with coding tools such as 3M, Codify, Cerner, Citrix

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint

- Ability to code using both electronic tools and coding manuals

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in Rehab audits, compliance, or denial management

- Exposure to inpatient multi-specialty coding

- Experience working with US healthcare clients in an RCM setup
