Role & responsibilities

- Operate and monitor Blast Furnace blowers to ensure continuous and secure hot blast supply to the furnace.
- Maintain required blast air pressure, flow, temperature, and other operating parameters as per BF requirements.
- Monitor blower suction/discharge pressure, flow, bearing temperature, vibration, lubrication, and cooling system parameters.
- Monitor and control blower load, speed, inlet guide vane (IGV), and anti-surge system to ensure stable operation.
- Carry out blower start-up, shutdown, changeover, and emergency operation as per SOP.
- Coordinate with Blast Furnace, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Mechanical Maintenance teams during blower operation and abnormalities.
- Take immediate corrective action during blower trips,



high vibration, high temperature, low pressure, or other abnormal conditions.
- Ensure proper availability and reliability of standby blowers and carry out smooth changeover when required.
- Monitor blower performance and identify opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
- Maintain blower operating logs, shift reports, parameter records, and breakdown details.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, SOPs, interlocks, and emergency response protocols.
