Business Analyst (Freelance | Part-time)

About Paalam

Paalam is a fast-growing Swiss startup building a premium relationship platform for the global Tamil community. We combine technology, psychology and data to help people build meaningful relationships.

As we prepare for the launch of our new mobile app, we're looking for an analytical and ambitious Business Analyst who wants to grow with us.

The role initially starts as a freelance position of approximately 20 hours per week. For the right candidate, we're happy to transition to a full-time role immediately or, at the latest, from October.

What you'll do

You will work directly with the founder to improve our product, support strategic decisions and help shape the future of Paalam.

Your responsibilities include

- Analyse product, business and marketing data to identify trends and opportunities
- Prepare reports, dashboards and decision-making materials for the founder
- Turn complex data into clear recommendations and actionable insights
- Define and monitor KPIs across product, marketing and growth
- Perform QA testing of new features before release
- Write detailed bug reports and collaborate closely with the development team
- Support project management and coordinate product initiatives
- Gather and document business requirements for new features
- Analyse competitors, market trends and user feedback




- Explore how AI can improve business processes, analytics and product development

Who we're looking for We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems through data, structured thinking and curiosity.

You naturally ask questions like:

- What do the numbers really tell us?
- Why do users behave the way they do?
- Which improvements create the biggest impact?
- How can we build a better product and a better business?

Requirements

- Degree or strong academic background in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
- Excellent written and spoken English and Tamil
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent Excel and Google Sheets skills
- Experience with SQL, Power BI or Tableau is a plus
- Marketing knowledge is an advantage
- Solid communication and presentation skills
- Structured, detail-oriented and proactive
- Comfortable using AI tools in your daily work
- Comfortable working remotely
