SCEH provides comprehensive services across cataract, cornea and eye bank, glaucoma, vitreo-retina, paediatric ophthalmology, ocular oncology, vision rehabilitation, public health, and education and training.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Biomedical Engineer role based at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital in New Delhi.

The Biomedical

Engineer will be responsible for installation, calibration, and routine maintenance of medical equipment and devices used across outpatient departments, operating theatres, and diagnostic units. Daily tasks include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating repairs with vendors,



and ensuring minimum downtime for critical devices. The role involves supporting clinical teams by advising on appropriate equipment use, maintaining documentation and service records, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

The Biomedical

Engineer will also participate in equipment planning and procurement, contribute to technology upgrades in line with SCEH 2.0 initiatives, and provide training to staff on protected and efficient operation of biomedical equipment.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess solid skills in Equipment Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance to ensure reliable operation and longevity of devices.

Candidates should possess hands-on experience with Medical Equipment, including diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical systems used in eye care settings.

Candidates should possess solid Biomedical Engineering knowledge, including electronics, instrumentation, and medical device technology.

Candidates should possess Clinical Engineering skills, including working closely with clinical teams, understanding workflow, and aligning equipment performance with patient care needs.

Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.

Prior experience in a hospital or clinical environment, ideally within ophthalmology or tertiary care, is highly beneficial.

Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and safety standards, equipment calibration protocols, and documentation practices.
