This is an AI/ML Engineer role within THE LEGAL HABITAT's R&D; team, based in Delhi, India, open to full-time, part-time, or consulting arrangements depending on the candidate. As part of R&D;, the AI/ML Engineer will lead exploration and experimentation on core machine learning models that address legal domain challenges, including document analysis, information retrieval, and predictive insights, helping shape the technical foundation the company builds on. Daily work includes data preprocessing, feature engineering, experimenting with algorithms, training and evaluating models, and implementing scalable solutions in production environments.

The role involves close collaboration with product, engineering, and domain experts to translate requirements into technical specifications and improve system performance through iterative testing. The AI/ML Engineer will also maintain documentation, monitor model behavior,

Strong foundation in Computer Science and Algorithms, with experience in data structures and efficient problem-solving techniques.

Practical experience in Statistics and Pattern Recognition for building, evaluating, and optimizing machine learning models.

Hands-on expertise with Neural Networks and modern ML frameworks for developing and refining AI-driven solutions.

Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI/ML (such as Python) and familiarity with relevant libraries and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).

Experience working with real-world datasets, including data cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering.

Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Bachelor's or Master's degree from a recognized institution in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Candidates should be able to demonstrate applied, hands-on ML experience (e.g., through prior/current work at an established company, published work, or a strong project portfolio), not academic exposure alone.

Knowledge of or interest in the legal domain, natural language processing (NLP), and responsible AI practices is an advantage.

Prior exposure to R&D-style; work, such as experimentation, prototyping, or applied research, is a strong plus.
