Description

Equinix is hiring a seasoned AI Engineer for a backfill position. The role focuses on building and operating production-grade AI solutions with strong emphasis on LLMs, generative AI, and enterprise integration.

Experience

- 5-7 years of software engineering experience

- 2-3 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating AI/ML solutions in production environments

- Experience delivering AI-driven solutions with measurable business value

- Ability to work with ownership, accountability, and attention to detail

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and deploy production-grade LLM, multimodal AI, and generative AI solutions

- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of LLM-powered applications and AI-driven features

- Implement and optimize RAG pipelines including document ingestion, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval strategies, chunking methodologies, and prompt engineering

- Integrate AI models and agents into enterprise applications, backend services, and APIs

- Ensure scalability, reliability, security, cost efficiency, and low-latency performance in production

- Collaborate with product, engineering, delivery, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into AI-driven solutions





- Drive continuous improvement through experimentation, performance analysis, user feedback, and emerging generative AI advancements

- Visualize, interpret, and communicate AI-generated insights

Additional Responsibilities

- Work at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI

- Translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions

- Ensure technical decisions align with strategic objectives

- Deliver measurable business outcomes

- Manage complex, multi-component AI systems in dynamic environments

Nice To Have

- Java, Node.js, or Scala experience

- Experience building, integrating, or consuming MCP servers, tools, and agent ecosystems

- Experience with containerization, deployment, and inference serving technologies

- Ability to visualize, interpret, and communicate AI-generated insights through modern analytics platforms, dashboards, and reporting tools

- Contributions to AI/ML open-source projects, research initiatives, or production-scale AI innovation programs
