About The Role We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Remote Junior Accountant to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their accounting expertise within a supportive environment that values professional growth. As a Junior Accountant at MNS & Associates, you will play a vital role in supporting our clients by managing various accounting and tax-related tasks.
Your responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, maintaining accurate bookkeeping records, assisting with payroll and tax filings, and ensuring compliance with CRA regulations. The position offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of industries and enhance your technical skills in a collaborative setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Qualifications Ability and willingness to work significant overtime during tax season, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Strong understanding of Canadian tax laws and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Jazzit, Profile, and Caseware, along with advanced skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Provide professional and timely support to clients by responding to inquiries related to accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and taxes.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, tailored to client needs and industry standards.
Assist clients with banking compliance, financial reporting requirements, and finalization of banking and mortgage agreements.
Analyze financial data, perform ratio and cash flow analysis, and deliver transparent financial reporting to clients.
Handle bookkeeping tasks such as recording sales, managing accounts receivable and payable, expenses, payroll transactions, and maintaining inventory records.
Support payroll compliance activities, including WSIB, government remittances, T4 and T4A filings,
and CRA reconciliations; prepare T5 slips as required.
Prepare and file HST/GST and other provincial tax returns, along with Personal (T1) and Corporate (T2) tax returns, ensuring strict adherence to CRA regulations.
Maintain organized electronic files and documentation for easy access, retrieval, and audit purposes.
Build and maintain robust client relationships by providing responsive, professional, and high-quality service.
Proactively identify client needs and communicate opportunities or issues to relevant internal teams.
Collaborate with administrative staff to support clients during CRA inquiries.
Prepare working papers, schedules, and supporting documentation for audits and reviews, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
Work closely with the Assurance team to complete audits and reviews, ensuring adherence to applicable accounting standards and regulations.
