Job Summary

The Civil Site Supervisor oversees daily construction activities on site, managing labor crews, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, and verifying that all civil works (concrete, structural steel, excavation, grading) meet the required quality standards and architectural plans.

Core Responsibilities

1. Daily Site Management & Labor Supervision

- Crew Coordination: Assign daily tasks to subcontractors, carpenters, masons, and general laborers.
- Progress Tracking: Ensure daily and weekly milestones are met to keep the project on schedule.
- Material Management: Receive, inspect, and track inventory of construction materials (e.g., rebar, concrete mix, pipes) to prevent shortages or theft.

2. Quality Control & Blueprint Reading

- Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and site layouts to guide the construction crew accurately.
- Inspection: Verify that the work matches technical specifications (e.g., checking concrete slump tests, rebar spacing, or excavation depths).
- Problem-Solving: Identify design or structural discrepancies on-site and report them to the Civil Engineer or Project Manager for resolution.

3. Safety & Compliance

- OSHA/Local Compliance: Enforce strict site safety protocols, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like hard hats, hi-vis vests, and harnesses.
- Hazard Assessment: Conduct daily toolbox talks (brief safety meetings)



and identify potential hazards on site before work begins.
- Incident Reporting: Maintain the site log and document any safety incidents, near-misses, or delays immediately.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

- Blueprint Reading: Mastery in interpreting Civil, Structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings.
- Surveying Basics: Familiarity with basic leveling and surveying equipment (like total stations or auto-levels) to check alignments and elevations.
- Software Literacy: Basic knowledge of MS Excel for daily logs and familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, AutoCAD viewer) is highly valued.

Soft Skills

- Leadership & Authority: Ability to manage diverse crews, resolve conflicts, and maintain discipline on a loud, fast-paced site.
- Explicit Communication: The ability to explain complex technical instructions to unskilled labor, and translate site issues into concise updates for engineers.
- Stamina: High physical endurance; the job requires standing, walking, and climbing around a construction site for 810 hours a day in all weather conditions.

Education & Experience

- Experience: Typically requires 7 to 10+ years of hands-on experience in construction or a specific trade.
- Certifications: First Aid/CPR certification and site safety credentials (like OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour cards) are standard requirements.
