dbt Developer (Snowflake) Data Engineering

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain dbt models (staging, intermediate, presentation layers) on Snowflake following best practices
- Write optimised SQL transformations leveraging Snowflake-specific features (clustering, materialisation strategies, dynamic tables)
- Implement and manage dbt tests, documentation, and lineage graphs
- Manage dbt project structure, packages, macros, and incremental load strategies
- Monitor and optimise Snowflake compute costs related to transformation workloads
- Support data quality frameworks and metadata management

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with dbt Core or dbt Cloud (models, tests, snapshots, seeds, macros)
- Deep proficiency in SQL and Snowflake (warehouses, stages, roles, data sharing, performance tuning)
- Experience with version control (Git)



and CI/CD pipelines for dbt projects
- Familiarity with dimensional modelling and layered data architecture (raw staging mart)
- Positive understanding of data quality, lineage, and documentation practices

Preferred / Nice to Have

- Experience with Apache Airflow — writing and managing DAGs to orchestrate dbt runs, including use of the DbtTaskGroup or BashOperator/KubernetesPodOperator patterns
- Exposure to Airflow deployment on managed platforms (MWAA, Cloud Composer, or Astronomer)
- Experience with Python for custom Airflow operators or dbt macros
- Familiarity with data observability tools (Monte Carlo, Elementary, re_data)
- Prior work in a Finance or CPM data domain (e.g. GL, planning, consolidation data)
