Role & responsibilities :
Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, establishing a strong safety culture and driving environmental sustainability throughout project execution and plant Operations.
1.EHS Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and management systems for the greenfield project
- Establish project-specific EHS plans aligned with legal and corporate requirements
- Conduct risk assessments and define mitigation strategies for construction and operational phases
2.Construction Phase Safety Management
- Oversee EHS performance during construction activities at site
- Ensure contractors comply with all safety standards, permits, and work procedures
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews
- Implement incident prevention programs and enforce safe work practices
3.Regulatory Compliance & Environmental Management
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national EHS regulations
- Manage environmental permits, clearances, and statutory approvals
- Monitor environmental parameters such as emissions, waste management, water usage, and pollution control
4.Training & Culture Building
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors
- Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness campaigns and engagement initiatives
- Lead toolbox talks, safety drills, and emergency response training
5.Incident Management & Reporting
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Maintain EHS documentation, reports, and compliance records
6.Operational Readiness & Handover
- Ensure EHS systems are established for plant operations before commissioning
- Support safe startup of the facility and transition to steady-state operations
- Develop SOPs, emergency response plans, and safety procedures
7.Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans (fire, chemical spills, natural disasters, etc.)
- Coordinate mock drills and ensure readiness of emergency equipment and teams
8. EHS Documentation and Certifications
- Ensuring all Compliance Documentation is maintained
- Ensuring the safety standards as per ISO, OHSAS etc.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- Diploma/Certification in Industrial Safety (preferred)
- 10-15 years of experience in EHS roles within industrial or manufacturing projects
- Proven experience in greenfield or large-scale construction projects
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance requirements
- Risk assessment and hazard identification expertise
- Contractor safety management
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Leadership and stakeholder management
- Solid communication and training skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in sectors such as FMCG, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or heavy manufacturing
- Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
- Experience in sustainability initiatives and environmental management systems
