Position Summary
The Executive – Strategic Sourcing & Procurement will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and procuring raw materials, machinery, consumables, spare parts, and services required for a solar cell manufacturing facility. The role demands close coordination with Engineering, Production, Quality, R&D;, Finance, and Logistics teams to ensure timely procurement, cost optimization, vendor development, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the manufacturing processes, equipment, BOM (Bill of Materials), and critical components used in solar cell manufacturing.
- Source raw materials, capital equipment, consumables, spare parts, utilities, and engineering services from domestic and international suppliers.
- Prepare RFQs, RFPs, and floating enquiries to potential vendors.
- Evaluate supplier quotations based on commercial and technical parameters.
- Lead commercial negotiations to achieve optimum pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and contractual obligations.
- Issue Purchase Orders in accordance with company procurement policies and approval matrices.
- Ensure timely procurement without affecting production schedules.
2. Vendor Development & Global Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard current suppliers from India and international markets, especially China, Southeast Asia, Europe, and other strategic sourcing regions.
- Conduct supplier capability assessments considering manufacturing capacity, quality systems, financial stability, certifications, and delivery performance.
- Develop alternate supplier sources to reduce procurement risks.
- Build long-term strategic relationships with key suppliers.
- Coordinate supplier audits in collaboration with Quality and Technical teams.
- Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as:
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Quality Performance
- Responsiveness
- Cost Competitiveness
- Service Levels
3. Cost Optimization & Commercial Analysis
- Perform Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) across multiple vendors considering:
- Product quality
- Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Product life cycle
- Lead time
- Warranty
- Logistics cost
- Import duties
- Payment terms
- Currency fluctuations
- Drive value engineering initiatives to reduce procurement costs.
- Conduct market intelligence and price trend analysis for key commodities.
- Support annual cost reduction targets through strategic negotiations and supplier development.
4. Technical Coordination
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Process, R&D;, and Quality teams to understand technical specifications.
- Review technical drawings, datasheets, specifications, and engineering requirements before procurement.
- Coordinate technical clarifications between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure purchased materials comply with required technical standards and customer specifications.
5. Supply Chain Planning & Inventory Support
- Coordinate with Planning and Stores teams to maintain optimum inventory levels.
- Track material requirements based on production plans.
- Monitor supplier lead times and proactively manage procurement schedules.
- Ensure critical materials are available without excess inventory.
- Support inventory optimization initiatives.
6.
Import Procurement & Logistics Coordination
- Handle international procurement activities including:
- Import documentation
- Incoterms
- Customs coordination
- Freight planning
- Shipment tracking
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, CHA, logistics partners, and internal logistics teams.
- Monitor international shipments until material receipt.
7. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain complete procurement documentation and records.
- Ensure compliance with procurement SOPs and company policies.
- Support vendor agreements, NDAs, and long-term supply contracts.
- Maintain supplier master database.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with statutory and import regulations.
8. Reporting & MIS
- Prepare procurement MIS reports including:
- Purchase spend analysis
- Cost saving reports
- Vendor performance dashboards
- Lead time analysis
- Open PO tracking
- Material availability reports
- Present procurement insights and recommendations to management.

Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Production Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Procurement will be preferred.
Experience
- Executive: 1–3 years
- Experience in Solar Manufacturing, Semiconductor, Electronics, Renewable Energy, Electrical Equipment, Capital Equipment, or Process Manufacturing industries is preferred.
- Knowing Chinese Language will be an added advantage
