Job Title - Data Center Technician

Experience: 2+ Years of experience.

Cabling Operations
• Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center at all times.
• Installation and testing of copper and Fiber Optic cabling to allocated rack positions.
• Execute Fiber and copper cable installations following established standards and procedures.
• Creating/attaching labels and barcodes for all cabling and infrastructure components.
• Understanding and use of test equipment (power meter / light source, OTDR, VFL, Fluke, network analyser, copper / Fiber cabling test equipment).
• Perform cable testing and quality validation; troubleshoot network links and connectivity issues.
• Maintain high standards of cable management and physical layout throughout the data center floor.
• Coordinate with cabling vendors and oversee project completion to SLA standards.
Rack Installation & Infrastructure
• Physical acceptance and installation of server and network rack deliveries to designated positions.
• Rack positioning, pre-staging coordination, and power whip deployment and connection.




• Scan assets into custody using Strider-directed workflows and Mobility/Boost inventory systems.
• Coordinate with DCEO (Data Center Engineering Operations) for power and cooling requirements.
• Execute rack decommissioning when required, following change management SOPs.
• Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices and server hardware within racks.
• Meet 48-hour SLA for rack hand-off to customer service teams, ensuring quality and completeness.

Operational & Environmental
• Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures at all times.
• Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.
• Regularly work at heights and from ladders as required for cabling and infrastructure tasks.
• Ability to travel within geographical work area as required. Occasional work in tight and/or narrow spaces, such as under raised floors.
• Experience with a ticketing system for logging, tracking, and closing work orders.
