Job Title: Software QA Automation Engineer (Python + Playwright)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Software QA Automation Engineer who will take complete ownership of our automation ecosystem and drive quality engineering across multiple enterprise web applications.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our existing Python, Pytest, and Playwright automation framework, while designing scalable automation solutions for new applications. This role requires a solid blend of automation engineering, API testing, CI/CD integration, source-code analysis, and test strategy.
Beyond executing automated tests, you will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality software delivery through continuous testing and intelligent test coverage.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Framework Ownership

- Own, maintain, and continuously improve the existing Python + Pytest + Playwright automation framework.
- Refactor and evolve the framework into a reusable, scalable architecture using Page Object Model (POM), shared fixtures, reusable utilities, and environment-specific configurations.
- Standardize automation coding practices, project structure, and framework documentation.

Test Automation Development

- Design, develop, and maintain automated UI test suites for web applications including:
- Enforcement Portal
- Citation Portal
- Public Office Applications

- Build comprehensive automated coverage including:

- Smoke Testing
- Authentication
- CRUD Operations
- End-to-End Workflows
- Negative Scenarios
- Boundary Conditions
- Validation Testing
- Regression Suites

Framework & Repository Management

- Consolidate automation assets into a single, well-structured repository.
- Maintain reusable utilities, shared components, and configuration templates.
- Ensure secure credential management using templated configuration files.
- Enforce repository best practices including .gitignore, coding standards, and documentation.

CI/CD & Continuous Testing





- Implement automated execution through CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines or equivalent).
- Configure:
- Pull Request validation
- Scheduled regression execution
- HTML reporting
- Automatic Xray result publishing

- Reduce dependency on manual execution through continuous automation.

Test Management & Traceability

- Create and maintain test cases in Jira/Xray.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, manual test cases, and automated scripts.
- Import/export test assets where required.
- Ensure execution reports remain current and actionable.

Advanced UI & API Testing

- Automate complex workflows involving:
- SSO Authentication
- Identity Server Login
- Multi-tenant applications
- Dynamic UI components
- Kendo UI grids, filters, and widgets

- Develop API automation for:

- Test data preparation
- Service validation
- Backend verification
- Contract testing

Code Analysis & Quality Engineering

- Analyze application source code (primarily C#/.NET and JavaScript/TypeScript) to understand:
- Business logic
- Validation rules
- State transitions
- Permission models

- Design automation based on actual implementation rather than UI behavior alone.
- Perform impact analysis by reviewing developer commits and pull requests.
- Continuously improve regression coverage based on code changes.

Defect Management

- Investigate automation failures to distinguish between product defects and test instability.
- Create detailed, reproducible bug reports with supporting technical evidence.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve issues through closure.

Test Data & Documentation

- Define reusable test data strategies across lower environments.
- Support secure testing of payment workflows while adhering to compliance standards.




- Maintain framework documentation, setup guides, contribution guidelines, and operational runbooks.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3 to 5+ years of Software QA experience.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining UI automation frameworks.

Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Advanced knowledge of Pytest, including:
- Fixtures
- Parametrization
- Markers
- conftest.py
- Plugins

- Hands-on experience with Playwright (Python preferred).
- Strong understanding of:

- Selectors
- Wait strategies
- Browser contexts
- Flaky test mitigation

- Experience testing modern web applications including:

- Single Page Applications (SPA)
- Dynamic UI
- Role-based systems
- SSO authentication

- Practical experience with REST API testing using:

- Requests
- Postman
- Similar API testing tools

- Working knowledge of Jira and Xray Test Management.
- Proficiency with Git workflows including:

- Branching
- Pull Requests
- Code Reviews
- Bitbucket (preferred)

- Ability to read and understand application source code (C#/.NET and JavaScript/TypeScript) to derive meaningful test scenarios.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities.

- Experience implementing automated testing within CI/CD pipelines using:
- Bitbucket Pipelines
- Azure DevOps
- Jenkins
- GitHub Actions

- Experience testing enterprise SaaS platforms, government systems, or regulated workflows such as:

- Parking Management
- Permitting
- Licensing
- Citation Management

- Familiarity with static code analysis or code coverage tools.
- Experience testing Kendo UI or Telerik-based applications.
- Understanding of PCI DSS requirements and secure testing practices.
- SQL knowledge for backend data validation.
- Experience with mobile application or embedded device testing.
- Performance and load testing experience using JMeter, k6, or Locust.
