Role & responsibilities

A Solar Design Engineer plans, models, and optimizes photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage systems for residential, commercial, or utility-scale projects. They are responsible for site-specific electrical layouts, energy yield simulations, and ensuring installations comply with safety standards and regulatory codes .

Key Responsibilities

- System Layout & Drafting: Create accurate array layouts, electrical three-line diagrams (SLDs), and blueprints using CAD software.
- Performance Simulation: Use specialized software to run yield simulations, calculate energy output, and optimize system efficiency based on climate and terrain.
- Site Assessment: Analyze electrical loads, roof/ground conditions, and shading to determine optimal system sizing and placement.
- Compliance & Permitting: Ensure designs adhere to local grid rules, utility requirements, and regional safety codes (e.g., NEC).
- Technical Support: Provide BOM (Bill of Materials) estimates, coordinate with field installers, and assist in commissioning
