Modbus Integration Specialist (Industrial Controls & PLC Systems)

Position Summary

AD STANLEY LLC is seeking a Modbus Integration Specialist to develop communication interfaces between industrial equipment and monitoring platforms. This role will focus on integrating generators, PLCs, controllers, and other field devices that communicate over Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP using RS-232, RS-485, and Ethernet connections.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for reading Modbus registers, mapping device addresses, interpreting manufacturer documentation, and developing software interfaces that collect, display, and transmit operational data from multiple equipment types.

Responsibilities

- Connect to generators, PLCs, and industrial controllers using RS-232, RS-485, and Ethernet communications.
- Read and interpret Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP registers.
- Develop and maintain Modbus register maps for various manufacturers.
- Analyze OEM communication manuals to identify data points and control registers.
- Configure serial communication settings (baud rate, parity, stop bits, slave IDs, etc.).
- Create software interfaces that poll devices and retrieve operational data.
- Develop dashboards, APIs, or middleware to present equipment status, alarms, and performance data.
- Integrate field equipment with SCADA, cloud platforms, and remote monitoring systems.
- Troubleshoot communication issues using Modbus diagnostic tools and protocol analyzers.
- Test and validate communication with generators, ATS controllers, HVAC controllers, and other industrial devices.




- Maintain technical documentation, register maps, and integration procedures.

Required Qualifications

- Experience with Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP protocols.
- Strong understanding of RS-232 and RS-485 serial communications.
- Experience working with PLCs and industrial controllers.
- Ability to interpret Modbus register documentation and OEM manuals.
- Experience using Modbus diagnostic software such as ModScan, Modbus Poll, QModMaster, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with serial communication troubleshooting.
- Experience with networking fundamentals, including IP addressing and Ethernet communications.
- Ability to work independently and solve complex communication challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with BACnet, CANbus, MQTT, OPC UA, or SNMP.
- Programming experience in C#, Python, Node.js, JavaScript, or C++.
- Experience developing HMI, SCADA, or web-based monitoring applications.
