Position Summary

The Mother Teacher for Classes I & II plays a vital role in shaping the foundational academic, emotional, and social development of young learners. Acting as the primary facilitator and caregiver, the Mother Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports smooth transition from pre-primary to formal primary education.

The ideal candidate should be patient, caring, creative, and skilled in handling young learners while ensuring strong foundational learning in languages, numeracy, environmental awareness, and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Classroom Ownership & Student Well-being

- Act as the primary teacher and mentor (Mother Teacher”) for assigned Class I or Class II section.
- Create a safe, warm, inclusive, and emotionally supportive classroom environment.
- Build strong rapport with students to ensure comfort, trust, and engagement.
- Monitor student well-being, behavior, hygiene, and emotional development daily.
- Ensure smooth transition of students from pre-primary to structured primary learning.

2. Academic Instruction (Foundational Learning)

- Teach core subjects including English, Mathematics, Environmental Studies (EVS), and basic language skills as per CBSE curriculum.
- Strengthen foundational literacy skills: reading, writing, comprehension, and vocabulary development.
- Build numeracy skills including number sense, basic operations, measurement, shapes, and patterns.
- Introduce EVS concepts related to environment, community, hygiene, safety, and surroundings.
- Use activity-based, experiential, and play-supported learning methods for concept clarity.

3. Lesson Planning & Curriculum Delivery

- Prepare structured lesson plans aligned with CBSE curriculum and school academic plan.
- Use storytelling, rhymes, visuals, and hands-on activities to enhance learning.
- Integrate real-life examples to make concepts meaningful and relatable.
- Ensure timely completion of syllabus and academic milestones.
- Adapt teaching methods to cater to different learning abilities.

4. Assessment & Student Progress Tracking

- Conduct continuous and informal assessments through observation, worksheets, activities, and class participation.
- Maintain detailed student progress records and learning portfolios.




- Identify learning gaps and provide remedial support.
- Share regular feedback with parents on academic and behavioral progress.
- Track improvement in literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.

5. Classroom Management

- Maintain a disciplined yet joyful and engaging classroom environment.
- Establish classroom routines, rules, and positive behavior practices.
- Encourage active participation, collaboration, and curiosity among students.
- Handle classroom situations with patience, empathy, and positive reinforcement.
- Ensure student safety and supervision at all times.

6. Social, Emotional & Value Education

- Foster values such as discipline, respect, empathy, honesty, and responsibility.
- Support emotional development and confidence-building in young learners.
- Encourage teamwork, sharing, and cooperation among students.
- Help students develop independence and self-help skills.
- Address behavioral concerns with sensitivity and care.

7. Parent Communication & Engagement

- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) and informal interactions.
- Provide guidance on home learning support and child development.
- Share observations regarding academic and behavioral development.
- Build strong trust and collaboration with parents.

8. Technology Integration

- Use Smart Boards, digital learning tools, videos, and interactive content to enhance learning.
- Incorporate age-appropriate educational apps and multimedia resources.
- Support blended learning approaches where applicable.
- Use digital platforms for communication and student tracking.

9. Co-Curricular & School Activities

- Organize and participate in school events, celebrations, and cultural programs.
- Conduct storytelling sessions, art & craft activities, music, dance, and role-play.
- Encourage participation in competitions, assemblies, and school functions.
- Support holistic development through experiential learning activities.

10. Administrative Responsibilities





- Maintain attendance records, lesson plans, and student assessment data.
- Prepare teaching aids, worksheets, and classroom materials.
- Participate in faculty meetings, training programs, and school events.
- Coordinate with Primary Coordinator for academic planning and execution.
- Contribute to classroom decoration and learning workplace setup.

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline (mandatory).
- B.Ed. (Primary Education / Elementary Education preferred or mandatory as per school norms).
- Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed / D.Ed where applicable) will be an added advantage.

Experience

- Minimum 1–4 years of teaching experience in primary education preferred.
- Experience in CBSE schools will be an advantage.
- Freshers with strong training in primary education and child handling skills may be considered.
