We are seeking an experienced Database Developer (SQL Automation Specialist) to join our team. This hybrid role involves not only designing, setting up, and managing SQL databases but also developing automation solutions for seamless inventory uploads and data synchronization across various websites and systems. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL expertise, an understanding of database architecture, and the ability to implement automation processes to support efficient, accurate, and timely inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Design and Setup:
- Design, implement, and maintain database systems to store and manage inventory and product data across multiple websites and platforms.
- Configure and set up new SQL databases for various web applications, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Create database schemas, tables, relationships, and indexes, and implement data normalization and optimization techniques.
- Ensure high availability and performance of the databases by regularly performing database tuning and optimization.
SQL Query Development:
- Write complex SQL queries for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting, ensuring optimal performance.
- Optimize queries to improve data retrieval speed and reduce server load.
- Develop stored procedures, triggers, and views to support effective database operations.
- Automation of Inventory Uploads: Develop and maintain automated processes for bulk inventory uploads across multiple websites and platforms.
- Implement data integration pipelines to ensure real-time or scheduled updates of inventory information across various systems.
- Use scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and SQL to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes for inventory updates.
Data Synchronization:
- Ensure that inventory data across multiple websites is consistent and up to date.
- Build and maintain automated workflows for synchronizing inventory data between internal databases and external systems (e.g., eCommerce platforms, marketplaces).
- Troubleshoot and resolve synchronization issues as they arise, ensuring minimal downtime and errors.
Database Security and Integrity:
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect sensitive inventory and business data, including encryption, access controls, and user authentication.
- Ensure the integrity of the data with proper validation, error handling, and data consistency checks.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform regular database backups, monitor database health, and manage disaster recovery procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues quickly to minimize downtime.
- Ensure that the database infrastructure supports ongoing website and inventory growth.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with eCommerce teams, IT staff, and business analysts to gather requirements and understand business processes.
- Work closely with web developers to ensure seamless integration between databases and websites.
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders as necessary.
- Documentation and Reporting: Document database schemas, automation processes, and workflows for internal use and knowledge sharing.
- Provide regular updates on inventory synchronization and automation performance.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced SQL: Proficiency in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting SQL queries, and creating stored procedures, views, and triggers in relational databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Database Architecture: Solid experience in designing and managing database systems,
including schema design, normalization, and indexing.
- ETL and Automation: Experience with ETL tools and techniques for data migration and integration, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating tasks.
- API Integration: Experience with API-based integrations for inventory management across external systems (e.g., eCommerce platforms like Shopify, Magento, or Amazon).
- Cloud Database Services: Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions like AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud databases is a plus.
- Version Control: Knowledge of version control tools like Git for managing database schema changes and automation scripts.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a Database Developer, SQL Developer, or similar role.
- Proven experience with automating inventory or product data uploads and synchronization across multiple websites or platforms.
- Experience with web-based inventory management systems or eCommerce platforms is highly preferred.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues.
- Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento) and integrating databases with these systems.
- Experience with data warehousing or big data technologies is a plus.
- Certifications in SQL, cloud databases, or automation tools are a plus.
Graduate with a bachelor s degree in computer science.
