Role & responsibilities
A project site engineer is the primary technical and supervisory expert on a construction site. They bridge the gap between architectural plans and physical construction by managing day-to-day operations, overseeing quality control, resolving on-site technical issues, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Technical Oversight: Interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical designs to ensure all construction activities conform to exact project specifications.
Site Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the construction site, including managing materials, scheduling deliveries, and coordinating the labor force and subcontractors.
Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC): Conduct regular site inspections and structural surveys to ensure all materials used and work performed meet industry quality standards and safety regulations.
Problem Solving: Diagnose and quickly resolve technical difficulties, design discrepancies, or logistical delays to prevent costly project halts.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as the central point of contact by liaising with project managers, architects, clients, local authorities, and contractors.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate site logs, track material quantities, and compile regular progress and financial reports for upper management
Core Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Typically requires 1-3+ years of in office construction experience depending on the scale of the project.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using engineering instruments (theodolites, levels), computer-aided design (CAD) software, and project management tools.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation capabilities
