Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Category Manager to handle assortment planning, buying, and stock replenishment for bullion (gold bars/coins) and jewelry. The role requires strong market awareness of gold pricing, customer demand trends, and inventory control, ensuring profitability and availability across all channels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assortment Planning (Bullion & Jewellery)

- Plan and manage assortment for:
- Gold bars, coins (24K bullion)
- Jewellery (rings, chains, bangles, sets, etc.)
- Ensure the right mix of:
- Investment products (bullion)
- Fast-moving jewellery designs
- Track customer preferences, seasonal trends, and cultural demand
- Coordinate with design teams / suppliers for new collections

2. Buying & Procurement

- Source gold and jewellery from approved suppliers
- Negotiate making charges, margins, and purchase rates
- Place orders based on gold price movement and demand forecast
- Monitor international gold prices and buying opportunities
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance for gold purchases

Stock Replenishment & Inventory Control

- Monitor stock levels across:
- Showrooms
- Warehouse
- Online channels
- Plan replenishment based on:
- Sales trends
- Gold price fluctuations
- Maintain optimal stock without overexposure to price risk
- Track slow-moving designs and plan liquidation strategies

4. Pricing & Profitability Management
Update pricing based on:

- Daily gold rates
- Making charges and margins
- Ensure competitive pricing vs market
- Monitor margins per product/category
- Control wastage, shrinkage, and dead stock

5. Coordination & Operations
Work closely with:

- Sales teams (showrooms)
- Marketing (offers, campaigns)
- Finance (costing & margins)
- Ensure correct product listing (for eCommerce):
- Weight, purity, making charges, images
- Support promotions during peak seasons (Eid, weddings, festivals)

Requirements
Requirements

- 5+ years experience in gold / jewellery / bullion business
- Strong understanding of:
- Gold purity (22K, 24K)
- Making charges & pricing structure
- Experience in inventory & buying
- Strong Excel / reporting skills
- Good negotiation and vendor management skills

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of international gold market trends
- Experience in both retail + eCommerce jewellery operations
- Strong analytical mindset for price-sensitive products

KPIs (Performance Metrics)

- Stock availability (no stockouts for key SKUs)
- Inventory turnover (especially bullion)
- Margin control (making charges & spreads)
- Dead stock reduction (jewellery designs)
- Sales growth per category

Key Note (Business-Specific)

- This role must carefully manage price risk due to gold fluctuations
- Balance between:
- Holding stock (risk)
- Availability (sales opportunity)
