We are seeking an experienced Senior DB2 Database Administrator with 7+ years of hands-on experience in administering, maintaining, and optimizing IBM DB2 LUW databases across Linux, UNIX (AIX), and Windows environments. The ideal candidate should possess robust expertise in DB2 installation, upgrades, backup & recovery, performance tuning, HADR, pureScale, DPF architecture, security, and database migration while ensuring high availability and business continuity for mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration

- Install, configure, upgrade, and administer IBM DB2 LUW databases (v9.x, v10.x, v11.x) on Linux, UNIX (AIX), and Windows platforms.
- Create and configure database instances, databases, buffer pools, tablespaces, and storage groups.
- Perform database software installations, fix pack upgrades, and version migrations as per Patch Applicability Matrix.
- Monitor database health, capacity utilization, storage, and system performance.

Backup & Recovery

- Perform weekly offline and daily online database backups.
- Manage backup and restore operations using TSM, Symantec NetBackup, disk, and tape.
- Execute database recovery, redirect restore, and roll-forward recovery.
- Support disaster recovery testing and database restoration activities.

Performance Tuning

- Analyze and optimize SQL queries using Explain Plan and db2exfmt.
- Tune database configuration parameters, memory allocation, and buffer pools.
- Resolve locking, deadlocks, transaction log issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Execute RUNSTATS, REORGCHK, REORG, LOAD, IMPORT, EXPORT, and other DB2 utilities.





Database Maintenance

- Perform routine database maintenance activities.
- Implement database purging and archival strategies based on retention policies.
- Rebalance tablespaces and optimize storage utilization using compression.
- Manage file systems and tablespace allocation following DB2 best practices.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

- Configure and administer DB2 HADR environments.
- Install, configure, and maintain DB2 pureScale clusters.
- Configure HACMP/PowerHA environments.
- Conduct failover and disaster recovery testing.
- Ensure high availability for production databases.

DB2 pureScale Administration

- Perform backup, restore, and roll-forward recovery.
- Monitor database instances and cluster health.
- Manage storage and shared file systems.
- Administer database access and security.
- Install and configure remote Db2 pureScale environments.
- Add and remove members, Cluster Caching Facilities (CFs), and compute nodes.
- Perform topology changes and cluster maintenance.

Migration & Upgrade

- Plan and execute DB2 version migrations.
- Upgrade DB2 environments from v9.7 to v10.5/v11.x.
- Apply DB2 Fix Packs after impact assessment.
- Perform post-migration validation and optimization.





Security & Compliance

- Implement database security policies.
- Manage users, roles, privileges, and licenses.
- Perform patch management and security hardening.
- Ensure compliance with audit and governance requirements.

Monitoring & Automation

- Develop and maintain automation scripts for:
- Backup and Restore
- RUNSTATS
- REORG
- Health Checks
- Log Collection
- Archive Log Management
- Transaction Log Monitoring
- Audit Log Collection

- Provide 247 production support and participate in on-call rotations.

Collaboration

- Work closely with System Administrators for storage expansion and capacity planning.
- Coordinate with application teams during deployments and migrations.
- Support production incidents while adhering to SLA commitments.
