Role & responsibilities
- Experience: 15+ years in electrical engineering, with specific experience in EPC projects, Thermal power plants, or heavy industry and hands-on experience in FGD projects of 500 MW and above coal-based thermal power stations, preferably 660 MW supercritical units with experience in below mentioned work:
- Vendor & Technical Review: Ability to perform Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) for Electrical vendor equipment like HT & LT SWGR/MCCs, Transformers, 220 V DC Charger system with Batteries, DG Set, HT & LT Power Cables, Control Cables, HT & LT Motors, Numerical Relays and VFDs etc. based on Owner tender technical specifications.
- Review of Vendors Engineering Drawings & Documents.
- Inter Departmental Co ordinations.
- Preparation of RFQ/Technical Specification for floating the enquiries.
- Co-ordinations with Customer/End user.
- Sizing Calculations for Electric Equipment like Transformer (Dry & Oil filled), DG set, Cables, Charger System with batteries etc.
Job Description:
Candidates should have a blend of high-voltage power system expertise, low-voltage control systems knowledge, and specific experience in industrial process handling (Coal/Ash/limestone/gypsum). The role necessitates overseeing design from conceptualization to commissioning, including compliance with international standards (IEC/IEEE).
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Core Competencies for FGD Electrical Manager:
- System Design & Calculation: Proficient in designing electrical systems for large HT motors (reciprocating pumps, oxidation blowers, booster fans etc), LT motors and MV/LV power distribution. Experience with load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and relay coordination using software like ETAP, SKM etc is essential.
- FGD Subsystem Expertise:
- Limestone Handling & Preparation: Design of motor control centres (MCCs),
conveyor systems, and ball mills (grinding).
- Absorber Design: Electrical design for slurry recirculation pumps, agitators, oxidation blowers, and mist eliminator systems.
- Gypsum Dewatering Plant: Design for vacuum belt filters, hydro-cyclone pumps, and dewatering equipment.
- Transformer Sizing and selection.
- DG set Sizing and selection.
- Cables & Bus Ducts sizing and selection.
- 220 V DC charger system with battery sizing and selection.

- Drive Control Philosophy
- Earthing System designing and sizing.
- Lighting Protection System designing and selection.
- Cable trays, Cable ducts, Cable Gallery, Cable Vault Room designing and selection
- Electric Room building designing
- Preparation of RFQ /Technical Specification for floating the enquiries.
- Preparation of BOM and List for Electric Euipments.
- Design Documentation & Tools: Expert-level ability to create and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), GA drawings, cable routing, earthing layouts, and lighting protection using AutoCAD Electrical, Plant 3D, or MicroStation.
- Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to NEC, IEC, and ATEX standards for explosive atmospheres (common in slurry handling areas).
- Project Management & Leadership: Experience managing technical, financial, and personnel resources to meet tight EPC project deadlines.
- Commissioning Support: Providing technical support during cold and hot commissioning, including trial runs of electrical motors and slurry handling equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelors OR Masters in Electrical Engineering from a recognised University.
- Age- 40 Years to 55 Years
- Monthly Consolidated Pay (Negotiable)
Preference
- Employee/Retired employee of Public Sector Undertaking/Reputed Private Sector industries shall be given preference.
