Role Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Apigee Developer to design, develop, secure, and maintain enterprise-grade API solutions using the Apigee API Management Platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in API management, API security, performance optimization, and integration with backend systems while following industry best practices.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and deploy API proxies on the Apigee platform.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather API requirements and ensure seamless integration with backend applications and services.
- Develop and manage API policies, including authentication, authorization, traffic management, rate limiting, caching, and transformation.
- Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, mTLS, and other industry-standard security protocols.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards and best practices to protect APIs and sensitive data.
- Configure and maintain logging, monitoring, analytics, and alerting using Apigee's native capabilities and integrated monitoring tools.
- Troubleshoot API failures, performance bottlenecks, and production issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Optimize API performance through caching, load balancing, and other performance enhancement techniques to achieve high availability and scalability.
- Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation for internal and external consumers.
- Establish and promote API governance, standards, and best practices across development teams.
- Work closely with architects,



backend developers, DevOps engineers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable API solutions.
- Provide technical support and guidance throughout the API development lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain reusable components such as Shared Flows, Flow Hooks, Policies, and custom JavaScript/Java callouts where required.

Required Skills & Experience

- Strong hands-on experience with Apigee API Management (Apigee Edge, Apigee Hybrid, or Apigee X, with Hybrid preferred).
- Extensive experience in designing, developing, and managing API Proxies, Shared Flows, Policies, Products, and Developer Apps.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and backend service integration.
- Hands-on experience with API security concepts, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, mTLS, and access control mechanisms.
- Knowledge of API versioning, API lifecycle management, and API governance.
- Experience working with JSON, XML, SOAP, and REST web services.
- Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS protocols, status codes, request/response transformations, and error handling.
- Experience implementing traffic management, rate limiting, quota management, caching, and load balancing.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and API deployment automation is preferred.
- Experience with API monitoring, analytics, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
