Metrology In charge / Lead Quality & Calibration

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Metrology In charge to lead our metrology lab, oversee high-precision measurements, and ensure the highest standards of quality control on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate will have robust hands-on experience with advanced metrology equipment (including VMM, Contour, and 2D Height Gauges), a solid understanding of CMM operations, and deep practical expertise in interpreting and measuring complex GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) parameters.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced Measurement Operations: Perform and supervise high-precision inspection of parts using VMM (Video Measuring Machine), 2D Height Gauges, and Contour Measuring Machines.

CMM Oversight: Oversee, guide, or perform basic CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspections, aligning program setups and analyzing measurement reports.

GD&T; Interpretation: Decode complex engineering drawings and accurately measure GD&T; dimensions (such as true position, flatness, cylindricity, and runout).

Calibration Management:



Manage the master calibration schedule for all laboratory instruments and shop-floor gauges to ensure strict compliance with standards.

Lab Leadership: Maintain metrology lab standards, organize measurement data, compile detailed inspection reports, and support the quality team during customer audits.

Required Candidate Profile

Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a precision manufacturing metrology lab or quality department.

Technical Skills:

Proven expertise in operating and programming VMM and Contour machines.

Proficient in using 2D Height Gauges and basic standard instruments (micrometers, verniers, slip gauges).

Functional, working knowledge of CMM inspection and report interpretation.

Expert-level understanding of GD&T; symbols, feature control frames, and physical measurement techniques.

Education: Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering.

Soft Skills: Excellent analytical skills, solid attention to detail, and the ability to lead a small team of inspectors.
