The Fleet Manager (AM/Manager/Senior Manager/Associate Director) is responsible for end-to-end fleet operations across an assigned
geography, with a specialised mandate for the complete lifecycle management of delivery riders.
For Assistant Manager, the full cycle of rider onboarding and offboarding from sourcing and verification through to structured exit and replacement is a core, non-delegable accountability. This role
directly impacts fleet capacity, compliance, and operational continuity across last-mile logistics.
1. Fleet Operations Management
- Manage daily deployment, utilization, and turnaround of the assigned vehicle fleet (2W/3W/4W/LCV).
- Monitor hub-level fleet KPIs: uptime, breakdown TAT, cost-per-km, and delivery SLA.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with empanelled garages.
- Ensure 100% statutory compliance PUC, insurance, fitness certificates, RTO permits.
2. Rider Capacity Planning Forecast rider headcount requirements based on daily order volumes, seasonality, and hub
coverage.
- Maintain an active talent pipeline aggregator networks, walk-in drives, referral programs.
- Track rider-to-order ratio and flag capacity gaps 48 hours in advance to leadership.
- Plan for surge coverage: festival seasons, peak demand, attrition spikes.
3. Full Cycle Rider Onboarding & Offboarding
This is the primary Grade 8 accountability. The Fleet Manager owns every stage of the rider
lifecycle — pre-joining, active deployment, and structured exit — as detailed in the sections below.

Performance & Compliance Management
- Track daily rider performance: deliveries per day, on-time %, attendance, and customer ratings.
- Conduct weekly performance reviews and initiate corrective action plans for
underperformers.
- Maintain a zero-tolerance policy on traffic violations, vehicle misuse, and cash fraud.
5. Reporting & Analytics
- Submit daily/weekly MIS on fleet utilization, rider headcount, onboarding pipeline, and
attrition.
- Maintain accurate data on FMS, HRMS, and delivery platforms at all times.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Graduate or MBA in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or HR.
- 2–7 years in fleet / last-mile logistics operations with direct rider / driver management
experience.
- Hands-on experience managing rider onboarding, offboarding, and lifecycle operations.
- Working knowledge of Vahan portal, DigiLocker, and statutory compliance for gig/contract
workforce.
- Proficiency in FMS, GPS tracking platforms, delivery apps, and HRMS tools.
- Solid documentation discipline — zero-gap record-keeping on all rider files.
Preferred
- Prior experience in e-commerce, quick-commerce, 3PL, or FMCG last-mile logistics.
- Exposure to gig workforce management, CLRA compliance, and labour law for contract
riders.
- Familiarity with platforms: Fleetx, TrackoBit, Shadowfax, Delhivery, Shadowfax FMS. Certification in fleet management, logistics, or HR operations (CILT, APICS, SHRM).
