- The Coding Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is primarily responsible for determining the appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes to be applied to patient accounts for billing purposes based on providers’ documentation in the patient’s medical record.
Responsibilities
- Assigns appropriate billing codes to patient accounts. Performs ongoing analysis of medical record documentation for completeness.
- Provides feedback to Coders on coding discrepancies.
- Provides feedback to Coding Supervisor on documentation deficiencies.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Four (4) years of Emergency Department (ED) and Hospitalist Medicine coding experience.
- Certified Skilled Coder (CPC), or equivalent, preferred.
