Role Overview

Design, build, and support mission-critical mainframe applications powering high-volume core banking transactions. Drive reliability, performance, and integration of legacy systems within a contemporary, API-driven enterprise ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop & enhance COBOL/CICS/DB2/JCL applications for core banking, payments, settlements, and reporting
- Maintain 24x7 production systems, ensuring stability in high-throughput environments
- Optimize DB2 performance (complex queries, indexing, stored procedures) to improve response time and scalability
- Troubleshoot production issues using Abend-AID, XPEDITER; perform root cause analysis and permanent fixes
- Automate batch pipelines using JCL and REXX; manage batch recovery and restart strategies
- Collaborate with distributed teams to enable API-led integration and modernization initiatives
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers

Mandatory Technical Skills

- Core: COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL (hands-on development)
- DB2 Expertise: Query optimization, stored procedures, performance tuning
- Batch Processing: Job control, scheduling, recovery handling
