Mainframe Developer - INFOSYS

Job Summary

Infosys is looking for a skilled and experienced Mainframe Developer with 5-9 years of experience in developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise Mainframe applications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and Mainframe technologies, along with experience in application maintenance, modernization initiatives, and production support. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and high-performing solutions for global clients.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
- Perform enhancements, bug fixes, and application support activities for existing systems.
- Develop and execute unit test cases to ensure application quality and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents within defined SLAs.
- Perform impact analysis and effort estimation for change requests.
- Support application deployment, implementation, and post-production validation activities.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, testing teams, and project stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum or Waterfall project delivery methodologies as required.
- Contribute to modernization and migration initiatives involving Mainframe systems.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
- Experience in Mainframe batch and online application development.
- Proficiency in writing and optimizing DB2 SQL queries.
- Strong understanding of VSAM datasets and file processing concepts.




- Experience in debugging and troubleshooting Mainframe applications.
- Hands-on experience with Mainframe utilities such as SORT, IDCAMS, File-AID, and Abend-AID.
- Knowledge of TSO/ISPF and SDSF environments.
- Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and version control tools.
- Understanding of SDLC processes and software development best practices.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Mainframe modernization and integration projects.
- Knowledge of Mainframe DevOps tools and automated deployment processes.
- Exposure to IBM z/OS environments and related utilities.
- Experience in integrating Mainframe applications with distributed systems and APIs.
- Familiarity with MQ Series, Connect:Direct, and other middleware technologies.
- Exposure to cloud migration or hybrid technology landscapes.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Knowledge of banking, insurance, healthcare, retail, or telecom domain applications.

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
