Job Summary

The Purchase Engineer is responsible for procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for Water Treatment Plants (WTP), Sewage Treatment Plants (STP), and Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) projects. The role involves vendor identification, quotation analysis, negotiation, purchase order processing, and coordination with engineering, project, and stores teams to ensure timely availability of materials as per project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management

- Identify and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for equipment and materials related to WTP/STP/ETP plants.

- Float RFQs (Request for Quotations) to multiple vendors and obtain competitive quotes.

- Evaluate quotations technically and commercially in coordination with engineering teams.

- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contract conditions with suppliers.

Purchase Order Management

- Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs) as per approved vendor quotations.

- Ensure that purchase orders include complete specifications, quantities, delivery timelines, and payment terms.

- Maintain records of procurement transactions and purchase documentation.





Material Procurement

Procure equipment and materials used in WTP/STP/ETP projects, including but not limited to:

- Pumps and blowers

- Valves and piping materials (MS, SS, HDPE, UPVC)

- Motors and electrical panels

- Dosing systems and chemical dosing pumps

- Pressure vessels and tanks

- Instrumentation (flow meters, level sensors, pH meters, etc.)

- Filters, membranes, and treatment media

Coordination

- Coordinate with Engineering, Design, and Project teams to understand technical specifications and procurement requirements.

- Work closely with Stores and Logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials.

- Follow up with vendors for on-time delivery and resolve supply delays.

Cost Control & Documentation

- Track procurement budgets and ensure cost-effective purchasing.

- Maintain vendor database and purchase records.

- Prepare MIS reports, purchase status reports, and procurement summaries for management.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure purchased materials meet required technical specifications and quality standards.

- Verify vendor certifications and compliance documents where applicable.

- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspection of critical equipment.
