Job Description (JD) SGT Social Science Teacher

Job Title: SGT (Secondary Grade Teacher) Social Science

Department: Academics

Reports To: Principal / Academic Coordinator

Job Summary

The SGT Social Science Teacher is responsible for teaching Social Science subjects to primary and upper primary students (as per the school's curriculum), fostering critical thinking, promoting civic responsibility, and creating an engaging learning environment that supports students' academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Social Science lessons aligned with the prescribed curriculum.
- Teach subjects such as History, Geography, Civics, and Economics as applicable.
- Develop lesson plans, teaching aids, worksheets, and assessments.
- Assess students' academic progress through assignments, projects, tests, and examinations.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and academic reports.
- Create an inclusive, protected, and positive classroom environment.
- Integrate technology and innovative teaching methodologies into classroom instruction.
- Encourage students to develop analytical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills.
- Participate in staff meetings, training programs, parent-teacher meetings, and school events.
- Support co-curricular and extracurricular activities as assigned.




- Ensure discipline and uphold school policies and child protection guidelines.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, or a related Social Science discipline.
- B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) from a recognized institution.

Experience

- 1-3 years of teaching experience in CBSE, ICSE, schools is preferred.

Required Skills

- Strong subject knowledge in Social Science.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Proficiency in English and/or the regional language.
- Ability to use digital teaching tools and smart classroom technology.
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring students.
