Role Overview

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable server-side applications. The ideal candidate should have strong software engineering fundamentals, experience working with contemporary backend technologies, and the ability to solve complex technical problems while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain robust server-side applications.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following engineering best practices.
- Refactor and optimize existing codebases to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Remove obsolete or redundant code to simplify systems and reduce technical debt.
- Build, configure, and maintain build automation processes.
- Implement and support Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects.
- Develop and maintain asynchronous and concurrent applications.
- Perform performance analysis, tuning, and optimization of applications.
- Work with and modernize legacy systems where required.
- Develop comprehensive unit tests to ensure software quality.
- Integrate applications with existing custom backend services and APIs.
- Design scalable and reliable solutions for open-ended technical challenges.
- Contribute to engineering best practices, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.




- Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers.
- Participate in and contribute to open-source technologies where applicable.

Required Skills & Experience

- Strong experience in building backend/server-side applications.
- Excellent programming and software design skills.
- Experience with code refactoring and technical debt reduction.
- Knowledge of build tools and automation.
- Experience implementing Continuous Integration (CI) practices.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of asynchronous programming concepts.
- Experience with application performance analysis and optimization.
- Familiarity with maintaining and enhancing legacy applications.
- Experience writing effective unit tests.
- Ability to work independently with a self-driven approach.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in a team environment.
- Experience integrating with custom or legacy backend services.
- Ability to design scalable solutions for ambiguous or evolving requirements.

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience with one or more of the following technologies:

- Kotlin
- Gradle
- REST APIs
- GraphQL (GQL)
- RAML

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
