The Journal Editorial Office (JEO) plays a pivotal role in the efficient and effective operation of the peer review process for submitted manuscripts. This position involves overseeing administrative tasks, managing communication between authors, reviewers, and editors, and ensuring the timely progression of manuscripts through the review process. The JEO works closely with the Journal Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team to maintain the high standards and integrity of the journal.
Role Requirements
1.
Manuscript management:
Scholarly manuscripts screening, assessment and process the paper following the guidelines. Perform Research integrity checks on manuscripts as per guidelines.
Provide editorial assistance for ensuring smoother peer review process.
2.
Communication Hub:
Respond to authors, reviewers, editors and manuscripts related queries. Ensure timely and professional communication throughout the review process.
Address author and reviewer queries and concerns effectively.
3.
Quality Control:
Monitor the quality and timeliness of manuscript submissions.
Identify and address potential ethical issues, conflicts of interest, or breaches of confidentiality.
Ensure strict adherence to journal policies and ethical standards.
4.
Reporting and Data Management: Prepare accurate, regular progress reports to provide performance overview for key stakeholders as required.
Valuable working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook and excel is required
Maintain accurate records and databases of manuscripts and ensure data security and confidentiality.
5.
Process Improvement:
Continuously evaluate and improve the current process for efficiency and effectiveness.
Stay informed about industry best practices and implement improvements accordingly.
Collaborate with the editorial team to streamline workflows and optimize the submission system.
Ability to deal with challenging problems and proactively identifying additional customer support opportunities.
Ability to independently organize, execute, manage and track all assigned tasks.
Knowledge, skills, abilities and scholarly requirements:
- Prior work experience in the field of scholarly publishing and familiarity with scholarly publishing practices and ethical standards.
- Prior experience of working with a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math/Medicine (STEM) journals or magazines publisher is ideal
Prior knowledge of handling online manuscripts submission and peer review management systems is a big plus
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively is essential
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management, multitasking abilities and strong problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of the peer review process
Qualification: Masters in life science / material science/ chemistry/ Physics as a minimum, preferably PHD in life science / material science/ chemistry/ Physics
Social Science and Humanities: History, Geography, Archaeology, Anthropology, Economics, Political science, Psychology, Sociology, Social Works, Philosophy, Literature, Linguistics
Basic science: Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology
Life science: Bioscience: Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Life sciences, Immunology, Pharmacology
