Role & responsibilities
- Own end-to-end service delivery for the Credit Management tower, including SLA / KPI performance, credit decisioning turnaround, blocked-order release timeliness, bad-debt exposure, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead, coach, and develop the team; manage hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, succession planning, and engagement actions for direct and skip-level reports.
- Own credit policy interpretation and exception approvals within the delegated authority matrix; balance risk appetite with commercial enablement and represent credit in S&OP; / business reviews.
- Govern credit insurance, letters of credit, bank guarantees, and parent-company guarantees portfolio; ensure renewal, utilization, and claims processes are robust and well controlled.
- Drive transformation and continuous improvement credit scoring refinement, RPA / AI / analytics deployment, risk dashboards, and policy refresh in partnership with global process owners.
- Manage operational budgets, FTE planning, span of control, and capacity models; track and report credit operations performance to leadership.
- Ensure robust internal controls and audit readiness (SOX, internal, external, statutory) across credit limits, provisioning, and risk classification; own remediation of audit findings.
- Lead transitions, knowledge transfers, and stabilization of new credit scope into the India Hub; foster a culture of accountability, customer-centricity, and continuous learning aligned with BASF values.
Preferred candidate profile
- Postgraduate degree / MBA / CA / CMA / CFA in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a relevant domain.
- 1216 years of progressive experience in Credit Management, Credit Risk, or O2C operations,
with at least 46 years in a people manager role leading teams of 15+ FTEs.
- Demonstrated experience managing SLAs / KPIs, governance forums, and senior stakeholder relationships across regions; strong financial-statement analysis and credit risk judgement.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills in a multicultural, fast-paced global environment.
- Strong controls mindset and ability to balance operational rigour with strategic transformation and commercial enablement.
- Language skills indicate language and require level: C1 proficiency in Spanish and C2 proficiency in English.
- Prior experience in a Global Business Services (GBS), Global Capability Centre (GCC), or Shared Services Centre (SSC) environment, including build / scale-up of credit operations.
- Prior exposure to chemical, manufacturing, or industrial sector B2B customers with complex group structures, multi-currency, and multi-country credit exposure.
- Qualified certification in Credit Management (e.g., CICM, ICM, NACM), Lean Six Sigma Black/Green Belt, PMP / Prince2, and a track record of delivering transformation and automation programs (RPA, AI, analytics).
- Proficiency in MS Excel (financial modelling), PowerPoint, and Word for leadership reporting, business reviews, and governance decks.
- Reporting & Analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for credit risk dashboards, exposure monitoring, and SLA / KPI reporting.
- Working knowledge of SAP FSCM Credit Management, SAP FI/AR, and S/4HANA, and end-to-end O2C process architecture.
- Exposure to credit / O2C platforms and external risk providers (e.g., D&B;, Coface, Atradius, Creditreform, HighRadius, Get Paid, Serrala, BlackLine, UiPath, Automation Anywhere).
